Bitdefender (not to be confused with Bitflipper) does not like your site...

That keeps me away....

That is odd ... never seen that and no-one has ever reported that in 7 years ...

Bitdefender is THE #1 Anti-everything software.  It doesn't miss very much...
and is very unobtrusive, which is why I use it.

Don't know why...but if it says NO, then for me...it's a NO.

cclarry,

Seems from the forums that Bitdefender does create a lot of false positives.  There seems to be lots of posts from web masters complaining about their sites being blocked due to their anti-virus software.

I have opened a support ticket to remove jamsoft.co.uk from their blacklist.  How on earth it made it onto the list is another issue altogether.  I'll probably never be able to answer that one.

Give it a day or so and it should be unblocked again.

Thanks,

Jammer

Ahhh, I'm still testing the software on Win 8, I've not seen this behaviour so will have a look into that when I get to do some more testing.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

It works well, but I the Hard Drives aren't showing up in the drop down on the Database menu?
Do I have to do "export" thing for these to show up?  Still fiddling with it so we do some playing..LOL

Nice OK, just that nasty permissions thing in the first instance so far.

No, the export thing is pretty self contained in the application really.  If you only scanned one location on one drive there isn't any hard drvies to select from so the list won't be built.  Did you build the database using the scan button (on the database view - the radar icon) or did you use the context menu in the browser?

Thanks for the kind words, I have so many ideas for it but never enough time!  Seems there is a permissions issue at the moment.  Could you do me a favour?  There will be a log file here:

C:\ProgramData\JamSoft\SampleSort\Config

could you email to me any files in this location that end *.log?  That would be really helpful for trouble-shooting the problem.

Email it to support at jamsoft.co.uk :)

Dubdisciple, I've tracked your issue down to dodgy dates associated with some of your samples.  SampleSort should be handling those better so I'll get that fixed in the next version.

Also, are you on Windows 8?

Re:SampleSort Application 2014/02/13 17:31:33 (permalink)
dubdiciple,

I've fixed the initial nasty crash you experienced with the newly installed application.  This is actually a very desparate issue that I need to fix asap so I'm probably going to make a new version tonight before bed and get that uploaded.  I can't thank you guys enough for identifying that problem.  Really not good.

Actually after more investigation of your problem it appears that you have a dodgy font installed on your machine that is causing problems.  I'm still investigating this.  Have you installed many addition fonts on your system?  I know I have and I haven't seen this problem.  Basically it appears there may be some font corruption on your system, the problem doesn't stem from SampleSort but your system.

There is some information here on how you can attempt to find or fix these corrupted fonts

This is a seriously obscure issue I've certainly never seen before.  Are you using non standard fonts as system fonts on your machine?  Either way, there isn't anything I can do about it as it's a system problem rather than SampleSort itself.
The relevant Google search is http://tinyurl.com/pc3gw4g

Sorry I can't be of more help on that.

OK..just ran the scan...it shows 116862 scanned...but nothing shows up in the window...
If I hit any of the drop downs, there are no drives...no categories, nothing...in any of the
dropdowns...

I hit the "Load Database Icon" and nothing happens...

The Browser works fine...

And it says Loading....continuously...

Ok.  Will send again.  I have done various scans and none of them read as corrupted but it may just be hidden.  I do have a number of fonts because i do a lot of graphic work and some programs install fonts like Adobe.

Thanks chap.  Yeah I do a lot of stuff with graphics and adobe (I'm a pro photographer as well) so I have LOTS of fonts installed, that's what is confusing me.  It's such an obscure issue.

OK, this is seriously good news!!  The sub category list is dynamically loaded based on the category you select.

It works like this as it will only show sub-categories for which SS has actually found samples for on your system and will therefore return valid samples.
