SampleTank FREE

Those ******* at IK have released SampleTank FREE....

After the initial SOAKING OF EVERYONE FOR THEIR MONEY...

they NOW decide to do a FREE one...

K Multimedia has announced the release ofSampleTank 3 Free, the freely downloadable companion version to the sound and groove workstation for Mac OS X and Windows. Now you can experience the full creative power ofSampleTank 3 for free via a selection of instruments that illustrate its completely redesigned user interface, 64-bit compatibility, 55 effects, new loop and groove management tools and enhanced sample engine.
SampleTank 3 Free is essentially a fully functioning version of SampleTank 3: The only difference is that SampleTank 3 Free features a small portion of the sounds featured in the full version. This library is expandable; IK will add instruments to SampleTank 3 Free until a total of 22 instruments are available.
The first instrument included is Grand Piano 1 SE, a representation of a Hamburg-made concert grand piano that's been meticulously sampled down to the finest detail. It provides you with a musical, dynamic and naturally versatile instrument that fits perfectly in any style of music from classical to rock and from jazz to soul. Its programming and included effects — like its virtual piano lid and true-to-life string and soundboard harmonic resonance — make for a playing experience that "will make you believe you're in the room with one of the richest and most beautiful concert grand pianos of all time". And you'll also have extensive sound sculpting possibilities thanks to SampleTank 3's studio FX collection.
Like SampleTank 3, all of SampleTank 3 Free's sounds have been sampled and crafted by IK's team of audio engineers, with new lifelike expressiveness thanks to SampleTank 3 multiple articulations and new "round-robin" features.
Watch the new SampleTank 3 tutorial video series.

It doesn't appear that this will import any libraries (ie Miroslav, etc.) - you can only use it with the free stuff they give you.

I guess I don't see the conflict...?

It can't import old libraries, so it's essentially a demo that allows unlimited use of a very limited instrument set.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

This practically nullifies my need for ST3 as I have every library + synth for ST2, and all I need is the 64 bit player.

Guys, check this out from the IK site:

"Each week, IK will release a new set of instruments that can be downloaded and added to SampleTank 3 Free's instrument library for a total of 22 fully functional and high quality free instruments.
Though you can import and use only these instruments..."

You cannot use this is a free player for your other libraries. If you could, I would cancel my boxed order and move on. That's not what this is. This is simply a "test" of Sampletank - a demo.

Nothing to see here, move along...

Just joking Larry

Now the question is will it get here before my 50th B-day at the end of September?????????????????????????

Re: SampleTank FREE 2014/08/28 16:18:08 (permalink)
What boggles my mind is how a company can completely skirt the support of its
"FLAGSHIP" product for almost 10 years...5 years COMPLETELY without support.

6 years after releasing version 2...and a year after the 2.5 update,
they proudly announce (with photos) that they are hard at work on ST 3.
Now, mind you, 64 bit is already taking a foothold, and the product
is becoming non-functional for many users, who have invested THOUSANDS into product AND libraries
with them...7 years...nothing, 8 years...nothing, 9 years, still nothing, but the photos
RESURFACE (exact same ones no less) and they AGAIN tout that they are hard at
work and will have it out for sure by the end of the year.  They then have a garage sale,
offering ST instruments for pennies on the dollar...then a group buy making them even less.
In the mean time that comes and goes. They say March, then that comes and goes, then, Mid 2014,
which almost came and went, and THEN release ONLY the download version.  Which has to be updated
after 2 weeks, but STILL no release of the the Boxed version, for which they have ALREADY collected the money.

And all the time THEY TOUT "10 YEARS IN THE MAKING" and release a PLAYER - PLAYER
with STUNNING 3D ICONS!!!   (Which there happen to be PLENTY of better FREE ones BTW).

Mind you now, ALL during the course of that last year, it is stated REPEATEDLY and EMPHATICALLY,
by the company cronies that there will be no SAMPLETANK FREE.

YET, one month after the download version, and BEFORE the boxed version, they release
SAMPLETANK FREE.  And everyone says YAY! And "I don't see the conflict"

Sorry to be such a cynic...but you guys are completely blind...not caring if the company
has bent you over the table and banged your brains out, didn't use a condom, and you didn't
even get dinner and a movie...and you say "THANKS" and "PLEASE SIR MAY I HAVE SOME MORE?"

Wow..I am living in another Universe...

"There will be no free version" in context of the conversations - which were always about importing legacy libraries. Quite simple really, when context is brought into the picture. I can see how things taken out of context can cause frustration.

Edit - and it was that there would be no free version upon release and in this case we are simply referring to a demo version as SampleTank FREE

Since it's quote day:

“Grudges are for those who insist that they are owed something; forgiveness, however, is for those who are substantial enough to move on.”

But what do I know, apparently I'm a blind sucker...

For those actually interested in the free version (that does not import) - or demo version if we are still in semantics funtime - it is in your IK User Area at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea or on the SampleTank 3 product page at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/sampletank3

Re: SampleTank FREE 2014/08/28 16:45:27 (permalink)
Larry bud, I'm usually with you but I don't get it on this one. The free version is really a demo. It has a tiny library, and won't import ANY other libraries (and I've got them all). If it could import libraries then it would truly be a "free version" of something we paid for and we could all grab our torches and pitchforks, but without the additional libraries. It's not. The should have called it a trial version, as I think the name of "free" is a bit misleading - if anything.

I'm not blind at all - there is no conflict here other than perhaps the timing. However, I was offered the download in place of the box and I turned it down. Not sure they could have done much more...

I was merely pointing out context of what you were paraphrasing out of context. I see you've resorted to name calling so there's no need to go any further with you since that shows your malice is on such a personal level and I wouldn't want to further contribute to whatever must be the trigger for such a rude and angry response like that.

Edit - I see you edited out calling us morons but changed it to a less direct yet sexist and political rant. Wow.

Re: SampleTank FREE 2014/08/28 16:57:22 (permalink)
I totally get that Small..

BUT THAT DOESN'T CHANGE ALL THE BULLS**T DOUBLE TALK CRAP
THAT THIS COMPANY HAS PERPETRATED ON IT'S CUSTOMERS OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS.
And you people don't give a flying F**k...about anyone else who got screwed...ok, you got
ST instruments for pennies...but what about all those who DIDN'T?

THAT is the sad part...

They use false pretenses and BS to get money...and it's very sad...

And, like sheep to the slaughter, you just follow right along saying "I GOT MINE" screw you!

Let me tell you all a secret.  I got the Total Studio Bundle for $150...that's where I got my
ST Instruments and Libraries last year...but I've followed SampleTank for it's FULL lifespan.
I've watched this company BS it's way around every single thing they have done to those
who literally paid THOUSANDS for these things.  And company Reps just laugh. They went off
on an "I" tangent for 3 years and left SampleTank to ROT.  Then come back after 5 years
and say "OK BOW DOWN HERE IT IS"

And people like ALL OF YOU sit back and make them COMFORTABLE in doing it - because you KEEP
DEFENDING THEM!

DONE...so DONE...

I have no vested interest in this other then to see that COMPANY'S DO what they should do...

You guys want to be followers ...go right ahead...WOW...I literally cannot believe how NAIVE you
all are...you just don't give a crap about ANYONE BUT YOURSELVES.  AND you help the COMPANY
FEEL THEY ARE JUSTIFIED.....THAT is the VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SAD PART.
