Saving Track Template no longer saves Track Colors

Has anybody else noticed this? In the past when I saved Track Templates, when I recalled them in other projects the track colors I had assigned were recalled too, as they should be. Now when I insert a track template into a project all the tracks are the bog standard grey. What's happening? Am I missing some setting somewhere?

At present, track templates do not recall track colors. [Edit: After trying to save tracks with colors as track templates, it sure looks like  I'm wrong - see posts #13 and #14]

I'm noticing that it doesn't save your outputs either. And every time it also opens up the pro channel strip. Even if you saved it with it closed. Sure would be nice if it remembered everything.

So do you know Craig if Cakewalk are planning on sorting this out? There are several track color issues I have with SONAR which I have written to Cakewalk about in the past and nothing improves. I would have thought with more regular updates that things would be moving on this score.

If you mean an output to a bus, see this post. I'm sure output assignments are saved with track templates but if you can provide a recipe to reproduce, I'll look into it.

They seem to be prioritizing stability, optimizations for faster operation, and features requested by many people, like synth recording and patch points.

    Hi Craig,
I have an octacapture and my track template is saved with it going to octacapture outs 5 and 6, but every time I load it, it loads outputs 1 and 2. I'm running Lexington.

Do you assign the outs directly to the hardware ins, not a bus whose outs are assigned to the hardware ins?

I'm using Ipswich and the track template colors are not saved with it either. THis should be fixed. All parameters should be saved with the track templates

    Hey guys,
I agree this is a bug. However, it's not as simple to fix as it may seem and would require some fundamental changes to how we handle track colors (or track templates). So when we weigh the severity of the issue vs the risk of impacting other stuff we end up trading for other fixes. It is in our list and is not being ignored - we're just trying to use our time as wisely as possible.
For now, you'll need to manually add your blue Reaktor spacial enhancements. Sorry.

You could just save a project with your favorite defaults but no audio or midi. and name it "template". then "save as" once the project has content, leaving your "template" untouched.  I've been doing it this way for years.

Hey Craig, there seems to be some inconsistency in results with regard to track colors. I commented in a previous thread that for me, track colors DO get saved and recalled with track templates. It's been that way quite a while for me - maybe since or after X3. A couple of days ago when inserting from track template I noticed, though, while the audio and MIDI tracks DID get inserted with the right colors, the track folder containing them did NOT. The folder just came up default gray.

I beleive you mean to save the set up content-less project "as a project", and then open and resave under the new project's name. But you can also save the content-less project "as project template", then it will show up in your start screen. And colors get saved correctly in project templates (for everyone I beleive).

I stand corrected. So many people in these forums have complained about track templates not saving colors that I just assumed that was the case. But I just tried saving a dozen tracks as track templates using the default colors as well as custom colors, and they all re-loaded with their assigned colors.

I can also confirm what you said about folders, but I'm not surprised - these are track templates, not track folder templates - you can't  right-click on a track folder and save it as a track template.

    Yes

That's what I thought. I'm not sure track templates can reference things outside the SONAR environment, even if they're referenced in SONAR. As a general rule I recommend assigning tracks to buses, and buses to hardware.
