And it's played w/ a pick! I love my Scarbee P-Bass but I so wish they'd included a "picked" variation.

By the way, for those of you with ailing bank accounts and starving wallets, I just now happened upon this KVR thread where you can get a free multisampled Rickenbacker 4001 bass in Kontakt [and SFZ] format, including keyswitch scripting and various articulations. People here seem quite impressed with what was accomplished in this collaborative sampling/ scripting work. Follow this thread, if you're interested: http://www.kvraudio.com/f...torder=asc&start=0

Mod Bod Got it covered. Thats hoT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it! Anyways, "we does NI insist on wrapping these things in Kontakt Player!! Its a total pita. " I forgot that they did that, and I'm no longer sure if I want to bother with this. They should develop a, "slimmer, sleeker, faster wrapper," for these types of products.

Years ago a bass player & I worked with in a prog band (a real YES head) used it with his Ric until he got his Alembic. He got more into Stanley Clarke so he gave me that Brassmaster.

I always thought those basses looked horrible but the sound of them is incredible. I want one! I guess for $99, I could. It's much more fun playing the bass line yourself though.

carl his Ric until he got his Alembic. Carl, that was exactly my upgrade path too. My bass history 1. Cheapo Model Bass ($100) 2. Broken P-Bass ($15, needed pickup wiring) 3. Gibson EB-0 4. Gisbon Eb-3 5. Rick 6. Alembic Series I While I still have the Alembic, I also now have the Line 6 Modeling Bass, A custom made (by our own spacey) 5-String bass, Kala Uke Bass and a of course the obligatory Fender American P-Bass. I'd love to have a Rick again and some kind of fretless and I'd be pretty much set from a bass guitar point of view.

I'd love to have a Rick again and some kind of fretless and I'd be pretty much set from a bass guitar point of view. I can't complete with BAPU as my bass collection is not as colorful, though ranges from 1968-present: Kay-P Bass (1967)--hated the log of a neck Gibson EB-1 (1969-solid body violin- petite 30" scale) Three Rickenbacker 4003's (70, 80, 90's--a Fireglo, aJetBlack & a Mapleglo) A fairly recent Fender P Special Epiphone EB-0 My Gibson EB-1 was destroyed in a hurricane a couple years after I sold it for $300. They are vintage collector's items now and bring in big $$. I still have one Ric, the 4003 Maple, the Fender P Special, and a few years ago bought that Epi EB-0 just to have the muddy sounding 30" scale around again (but never use it). Never got into Alembics; the ones I tried in the early 70's had 35 inch scale, which was too long for my small hands. The bass I currently play most is the P-Special (Jazz neck P+J active pickups--very versatile tone). But the bass I am most proud of is still my Ric (the Mapleglo)--thus my reply to this thread. While I looked at getting the Chris Squier model Ric back in the 90's, it was not ric-0-sound (stereo) and for me being able back then to run the neck and bridge pickups through different bass amps live, with different eqs was not only fun, but it made for big bottom and nasty tops. It will be really nice to have the Rickenbacker samples available from NI and eventually from OrangeTree Samples. Really nice finally to have those as options for the keyboard.

Previous N.I Scarbee bass libraries (MM,Jay,Pre) had 2 versions, amped and D.I. The tutorial mentioned there is a redesigned interface for the new Rickenbacker Bass.. and it seems you can select both D.I and amped sounds. Anyone has any information on this ?

Its like busses, you wait for hours and and then three come along together. One thing that is interesting, I read somewhere that the Orangtree product will be fingered, if NI is played with a pick they may complement each other.

It looks like the amped version is a result of using Kontakt's effects, not samples of the amped bass, which I think was the case with the others. I only have the DI versions and mostly use Amplitube if I want an amped sound. It says. A unique KONTAKT effect chain adds the final component to this authorized Rickenbacker® instrument with the newly implemented Jump Amp from GUITAR RIG for extreme tweakability, and tape saturator, equalizer and compressor from the SOLID MIX SERIES for pro studio effects.

Sounds great. Now how can we get this at half price? Usually we get told to go and buy a bass and learn to play it. I'm not falling for that again. I'm still paying for the full orchestra and grand piano I bought recently! I should have just bought the plug-ins. You live and learn.

yorolpal When I saw Yes in concert...must have been 71 or 72 a little band that had only a minor charting tune was the opening act...they were called IIRC The Eagles. Now that's creative booking. Yeah.... I caught them at JFK stadium back in 72 IIFC... it was in July. Talk about a strange lineup.... The opening act was the Philadelphia Mummers.... in costume, feathers and all... I think Gary Wright (dream weaver ) was next... 5 keyboard players and a drummer.... then some relatively unknown kid came on and played his new album in it's entirety.... Peter Frampton. (Comes Alive) Up to this point I had only known him as a guitarist in Humble Pie.... Then the headline act....YES, came on stage as the sun was going down. By this time....(the show started at around 4 in the afternoon) it was near 9 pm.... the girl I took to the show..(long story there) ..well she was wanting to go home.... she wanted to see Frampton.... I said no, we're staying to see YES. She was not very happy..... Yes was amazing. They had just released Relayer IIRC, because, in addition to all their classic hits to that time, they played Relayer... in it's entirety, note for note. It was a complete side of the album. 20+/- minutes in length. The day had turned cool after the hot July sun... actually kind of cold, and several bonfires were lit on the football field in JFK stadium.... YES was using a green laser.... so it was really neat seeing it shoot through the smoke and the fog coming from the marshland near the stadium. They had one of their spaceship looking things hanging over the stage and the laser came from it. Great show. Weird lineup.

I saw Yes only once at The Los Angeles Forum. 1970 I believe. Wakeman was wearing this really cool cape that seemed to be made of tiny mirrors. I'm hazy on who opened for them. Don't really care to remember.
