Keith Moon anyone?
We also did My Generation as our 9 song set closer ... I am approaching 50 (47.5 to be exact) and I literally had to "train" and get into shape to play the song. I spent some time several days a week for the last 4 weeks bashing the drums like a teenager.
Here is the end of the song with my feable attempt at Keith Moon.
http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11133455&q=hi&newref=1 I don't think of Moonie as a soloist like Peart, Bozzio Rich, Krupa, etc. ... but more of a brilliant drum arranger in the context of the song. I don't think I could name my favorite who song, that changes from day to day but, the one tune that IMHO is quintessential Moon ... The Real Me from Quadraphenia. It's the drum solo as song structure.
