Session Drummer 3......brushes?

Is there a way to summon up brushes instead of sticks? Trying to replace some crappy drums on a 4/4 jazz swing tune. Thanks.

There might be some SFZ brush samples in the sample library. I believe there is even a brush kit, did you check it out ?

Also, If you have any good brush sample just drag and drop them on to sd3's 4 extra tracks (Tracks 9 thru 12).

I don't know of any brush samples for Session Drummer.
A quick search of Sonar Forum I found this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Need-soft-light-brush-on-snare-in-Session-Drummer-3-m2430663.aspx

Of course you could also get this by buying an AD2 add on pack or SD2 SDX if you have those programs

AMD Phenom II x6, 8 GB Ram, 2 Internal SATA III HD
Windows 10
Presonus Studio Live 16.0.2 Interface/Mixer

Haven't seen a brush kit, maybe I didn't look hard enough. The tricky part is I need swirled brushes. I have repurposed drum tracks I recorded from other projects as groove clips with success in the past , but all the swirly brush ones I can recall are in 3 instead of 4. I suppose I could trim 3 down to 2 and loop that. All the brush samples I have are wave files and tend to be too busy and not swirls.

Slice the sample up and then Drag and drop the samples on to the kit pieces.
Then use midi to trigger them.

Chocolate audio has a jazz brushes expansion for SD3 for 12.49 USD
https://steamdb.info/app/303641/
But my go to is AD2 Apak Modern Jazz Brushes.
https://www.xlnaudio.com/products/adpak/modern_jazz_brushes
They will always have it on sale of 50% at 40USD.
I have use this Apak on several tracks and it sounds great and easy to use.

I'm assuming you don't have Addictive Drums. Platinum Samples has this Jim Scott brush kit for SD3. It's currently $15. Hard to go wrong.

You might also check out these Chocolate Cake kits. Don't know the price.

Probably none of these kits have swirly sounds. For that you might need a more advanced MIDI drum app.

But it seems to me there is a brush kit that comes with SD3. Look again.

TTS-1 has a brush kit. Don't laugh; I've used it and it's not bad. Short on articulations, though.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Here's the process which I use to slice sample and drag + drop to session drummer.

If you want a multi timbre instrument like Hi hats or different brush hits per 1 kit piece then you'll have to make an SFZ file which is relatively easy but the drag and drop method is simple.

You need to get the Adpack Modern Jazz Brushes (to use in AD2 that comes with SPlat). They usually have a sale a few times a year, I guess the next will be Black Friday. The pack is good, I use it for brushes whenever I need them.

As previously conjectured by Larry Jones, I don't have Addictive Drums. I'm running X2 Producer, so SD3 is my platform.

River, for what its worth, I use some platinum Samples kits myself in Session drummer 3 and they are great sounding kits. they are big in velocity layers and that's the difference between real sounding drums and something that sounds fake. The Jim Scott brush kit was the one I was thinking of as well.

However, if your on a budget and you already have decent sounding brush hits my previous post about slice/drag/drop is the best, cheapest method.

Thanks Chuck. Budget not a concern, but it's nice to have lots of tools to choose from and will give that technique a whirl at some point.

If so IMO AD2 Modern Jazz Brushes kit is worth alone to have AD2. It killed my desire to have any other drum synth.

I don't use a drum synth very often at all, I track live drums 99% of the time. I'm just learning how to use what I already have for a couple of demo favors I'm doing for a friend's daughter with no budget, but has promise as a singer/songwriter.
