Brando I heard back from Peter at Linplug and he says they don't have a copy of X3 to trial their plugins yet - he says RMV runs great in X2. My problem report with Cakewalk is CWBRN-22050 - Cake shows as "submitted to development".
interested to hear how this goes good luck!
Been a crazy couple of weeks. I have not been able to try anything else on this. As soon as I can get some time at the DAW I will load the 32 bit version and try it in Bitbridge and JBridge and also try the 64 bit version in X2 to see where the root of the problem is. I am guessing Peter is right and X3 or maybe X3C specifically is the culprit with this particular VSTi. I'll post back when I know more. I am encouraged that this got a "submitted to development" status right after submission if the problem report - good sign.

Yep - didn't install the 32 bit version but did try the 64 bit version in X2 and it seems to work great. Seems to be an X3 thing.

I nabbed Geist a few days ago. Initially I was more interested in the solution to deal with the step sequencer issues I have been having, but its sampling/slicing capabilities are rather impressive. I actually sliced up the first 5 seconds of "In the Air Tonight," looped it 4 times and sent it to a friend to show them why I was excited. I saw a few other posts and agree Geist is "overkill" in some ways, and is in fact a "miniature DAW;" but it will run nicely stand-alone and will use less resources than a DAW in that capacity. At 60% off, the price was right, and so far it exceeds anything I would ever use it for. It is definitely worth trying the demo for.

The thing about Geist is that you can use it on any level from triggering samples to triggering patterns to creating MIDI all the way to sequencing entire songs and mixing everything "in house." It's totally flexible.

For certain subgenres. Geist alone is capable of producing whole songs. If you are trying to produce 90's style hip-hop, hip-hop influenced music like DJ Shadow, sample bassed house music or remixes similar to Kenny Dope of Masters at Work, it could easily be done completely in Geist. I chopped up a bass sample from a very boring loop and resequenced it into a very nasty bassline with some bite!

For anyone wondering if X3D fixed the Linplug RMV incompatibility issue - it didn't. They didn't list it as such on their bug fix list, but I very much get the impression (I'm not a coder, so what do I know?) that Cake takes a broad brush approach to resolving VSTi compatibility issues - they dig into their code, discover one or more potential issues that affect one/some VSTI's then slowly close out the problem reports after they hear back from users - efficient use of programmers maybe but not necessarily the quickest way to resolve a particular issue with a particular VSTi, as is the case for anyone trying to use RMV - at least the 64 bit version. (Since I was originally looking for something to replace Phatmatik Pro, I don't see the point of installing the 32 bit version of RMV). Makes me wish I had gone for Geist instead. (Went for the deal). Not that this is Linplug's fault - X3 broke something as it works fine in X2. Ah well - it was cheap and I can wait. I'll follow up with Cakewalk on a potential fix.

Yes - twice actually - once with X3C once with D

32 bit or 64? I did not install the 32 bit version figuring I will wait for cake to fix this. The 64 bit version works in SONAR X2.

Bump for kaylen - can you confirm you are using the 32 bit version of RMV? I only installed the 64 bit version and it works fine in SONAR X2 so I don't know what else could be causing the issue if it is system specific - but something I would like to discuss with cake if others are able to run RMV 64 bit in X3D.
Thanks - hope you are liking RMV

Turns out this was an RMV issue after all. I downloaded a new fix from LInplug that seems to have taken care of the crash problem with RMV 64 bit. Yay - really liking RMV. Unbelievably deep - like a daw in a daw.

That's a great price. This is a wonderful drum sampler/sequencer/loop slicer. It comes with a ton of kits, midi and audio loops. So easy to map your own samples to make your own kits. Can auto map velocities across as many samples as you have per pad either linearly or logarithmically. For anyone that has an older version the upgrade is a steal (I went from RMIII to RMV for $39). My only issue is how the heck can you possibly learn all this stuff? - another deep plug that can take a lifetime to master. GAS sucks - so good!
