Smooth Scrolling Now Time during playback
This is when the screen follows the Now Time smoothly through the project instead of the screen jumping ahead one screenshot at a time like we have now. Also options to have it automatically center for smoothscrolling upon playback or the alternate option of scrolling not activated until the Now Time reaches the center of whatever you are looking at (this for when your Now Time is off screen and you don't want it to center until it reaches what you are looking at). I would also like options to position the scrolling focal point to other areas than the center like to the left or right of the screen so you can see more of what has just been played or what is coming up. Pwetty pweeze. I'll be your friend. :-p

Thanks, Susan. My old DAW had this and it's one of the very few things I miss since I moved to Sonar. It makes editing and other general tasks sooooo much easier. Cheers.

Are there more scrolling controls besides on click behaviour. I've suddenly lost the ability to rewind to the beginning of the project. It goes to the beginning but my current screen stays where it is.

I hate the pagebreaks too. In Cubase I prefered the Now Time always centered and track view scrolled because of it, as a workaround. In Sonar I don't have a workaround, other than scroll full project into view so there won't be a page break. So getting 10% close to edge, start scrolling full track view. It need not be microstep scrolls, but would prefer that, but small enough for eye to easily follow. Make full scroll 20%, and let microstep till 10% - and repeat like that. Or maybe smaller numbers, 5% from edge make 10% scroll and microstep.

I agree right now it's a PITA. Those who like the old method could set it in preferences.

No, I don't thinks so. The feature available in Sonar that is closest to the one requested above is "Center View on Now Time," which can be found in Edit > Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts. Of course, you have to keep holding down the key if you want the Now time marker to stay in the center.

Voted ... I'm probably restating, but the ability to have Now Time stay put while the track lanes scroll behind it smoothly is what I would like most in this. Regardless of where I have placed the Now Time marker to start.

Playback Scroll
2015/08/18 09:52:10

Currently, when a track is too long to be displayed, Sonar only begins to scroll when it reaches quite near the end of the display. I would like to set the scroll to begin in the middle of the screen. I know that it is possible to zoom out but that is not what I need. I want to see more of what has gone and at the same time see what is to come. Derek

Voted. I like this point posted from the OP: "I would also like options to position the scrolling focal point to other areas than the center like to the left or right of the screen so you can see more of what has just been played or what is coming up." This would be very handy. A keyboard shortcut perhaps to "Rewind or FF" the Now Time to the edge of the monitor screen.

A "semi-workaround" for this is to key bind "Center View on Now Time" and ride it like Seattle Slew, but is a bit tedious if zoomed in far enough. It would be nice to have this "just happen" if chosen.

I am glad to see this continue to be requested by multiple users (in their own threads that get merged). It is obviously a very popular feature that many people have had a chance to use in other programs. Honestly Sonar has so much going on for it these days that it's really only the little common sense things that jump out at me... such as this. I love the flash and dash, I love extra tools, I love steady stability improvements but if we can get a few of these simple but immensely useful features implemented every so often the user experience gets way better. You really notice the seemingly "small" stuff when you sit in front of the program all day every day. Cheers.
