Sneak Preview: SONAR Kingston Update

It's all about optimizations in this release (and a couple of new goodies). We've been working hard on making SONAR better, faster, and even more stable.

Thanks looks good..

Is it right to assume for those already on Rapture Pro... You don't need to install Rapture Session, don't need to install the samples around it? And there is a Rap Pro service pack now coming very soon I hope? thanks...

Oh excellent list view on start screen - well done.
Well I do hope it continues like this next month with even more fixes, performance tweaks, and subtle workflow enhancements. Maybe even the next six months! (Yep I know the answer).

Craig, what happened to the page numbers?

Good catch! You're hired!! (Not sure for what, though...)

I sent a Word doc and PDF to Cakewalk but they had to make one teeny tiny change to the Word doc and generate a new PDF. I guess the page numbering got lost in the process. I'll contact Andrew about fixing it.

In any event, it's 27 pages total.

You know, about 2-3 monthly releases ago we were discussing right here in this section that no one really knew what the eZine was.  We agreed it was just name someone had coined for the monthly release material.  You have really upped the game the last couple of releases and turned this into a bonafide eZine now.  The release is good to hear about and have explained.  The eZine makes it easy to comprehend what's going on - and now you provide articles.  It's cool. Well done!

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

can you also get him to add the CWBR numbers for the fix list, and fix the PDF title - currently the PDF title is "Microsoft Word - Welcome to the November 2015 SONAR update (1).docx"... slow down guys!

I can't believe that no one has commented on the benchmark figures at the bottom of what is now labeled Page 6. Seems one heck of a compelling reason to upgrade from SONAR Xn, for those who haven't done so already.

Folks are going to be impressed with the speed of Kingston. It's really good. I did share the benchmarks in another thread on this forum.

Ezine:

'Benchmarks were performed on a Haswell Core I7 5960X with 16 GB RAM running 64-bit Windows 8.1.'

...It's going to be across all OS's.

Beep... why not do the free upgrade? I went from W7 to W10 on my laptop, info in my sig. I have had VERY few problems and it is a LOT faster boot. Everything considered, I wouldn't consider going back to W7 and I liked W7, W10 is just better.
I AM waiting to go from W8 to W10 on my desktop but as soon as Jim says that things look good, I'll jump. I really cannot imagine it would be a problem now. I think you can roll back within 30 days.

Hi, J.

There is a combo of scheming, learnin' and a bit of too busy/"lazy" to make the jump right away.

What I REALLY want to do is setup a separate partition on my C drive to install Win10 on (and all my music gack) so I can test it all out/switch back and forth and so on.

Probably sounds nuts but I actually want to keep both active for some study/tutorial type stuff I'm planning.

Glad to hear it's working well for you though. I know you were getting bonked up on occasion previously but you certainly sound like a happy camper now.

Cheers and thanks.
