So... I guess none of my *friends* were going to tell me the truth?

Hey everyone!!! My home made music was actually reviewed on the interweb today.

pick one:

a) Simon Cowell
b) mike's dad
c) The guy at Venice beach that roller skates backwards while playing guitar for you.

"I've listened to the music on your website. It's absolutely appalling, from both a musical point of view and an engineering one."

I hope I still have a chance to get on Idol.

Maybe this press release will get me some much needed attention.

    I saw that.

I really think the admin should remove posts (or entire threads) when they get personal like that.

It only does harm to leave that stuff for everyone to see. And you know 99% of the time people regret saying what they do, then the thread is locked and they can't go back and apologize or edit their post.

I listened to the first four:

"I've listened to the music on your website. It's absolutely appealing, from both a musical point of view and an engineering one."

    Fixed.

I'm not a musician, so I can't offer any detailed critique, but like all the songs so far.  I'll get back and listen to a few more later.  Now I have to go and do my hourly apology.

Something tells me that arrogant prick has no regrets for any of the insults he hurls around. Pretty easy to act that way when you're hiding behind a keyboard miles away from your intended target... not a man in my book.

How surprised am I to find McCue selectively quoting out of context to cruise for positive strokes? Not surprised at all.

The full point being made was this:

"I've listened to the music on your website. It's absolutely appalling, from both a musical point of view and an engineering one. It really shot to bits your "I'm a pro and everyone who disagrees with me is an amateur" stance. If you put a tenth as much energy into your work as you do into your screeds on here, I'm sure you'd be doing much better."

Not the friendliest position to take, sure. But the gap between Mike's presumption of superiority and what he actually produces is hysterically, embarrassingly huge, and it is inevitable that he will occasionally be called out on this.

Don't mind people being immodest, that's fine. There are members of this forum who really do make world class, incredible sounding stuff *. McCue is not one of them, not by a long stretch. Which is okay, it's fine to be a mediocre hobbyist, but it would be sensible to not, by default, talk down to far more skilled people all the time.

Anyway, have at it chaps. You want to stand around slapping a thin-skinned crybaby on the back who can't take a fraction of what he routinely dishes out, go right ahead.

*Interestingly, none of them are particularly arrogant about it, but I guess that's a slightly different subject.

I have to agree with trimph1 - how "professional" is it to follow someone around to insult them a 2nd time?  you claim Mike's post was "out of context" and maybe so, but he didn't misquote you and you still said the same thing.  you said his music and engineering was "appalling."  and you stood by that comment.  why come here and hit him with it again?  seems petty and vindictive to me.   very professional.  yeah.

Interesting you should use the term "thin skinned"... I'd say you let loose with more Freudian slips than a man can shake a stick at. You are hardly a student of self-awareness... you don't even have a basic, fundamental grasp of the concept. Your "self-awareness", begins and ends with your own over inflated ego. Sad. Learn to handle dissenting opinions and debate like a civil human being instead of hurling insults like a spoiled brat. You invalidate everything and anything you might have to say by behaving so... self-sabotage and character assasination is the only art you practice.

Really? I didn't notice, though I suppose that's your point.

So presumably you can give examples?

Apparently so. But obviously, being blind to them, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to.

Luckily, with so many of them, you can easily come up with a couple of examples, yes?
