Oh, I see it looks like that in only one of the views.
The one with all of the colors shows where different samples are mapped. You can get the same view with by pressing the "Zone" button on Sampletank 2.
EDIT: At least, that is my educated guess. I have no inside info.

I actually like a lot of IK's stuff, but why so much secrecy on ST3???

The current price is 60% of what SampleTank 2 cost back in 2003 when it was first released. Some of you have mentioned the shopping cart, nothing about it currently, but most of your guesses are correct except it'll be more than just us.....
The FX, goodness the effects are killer. They are the exact same ones you'll find in T-Racks and AmpliTube. So, yes that is the Black 76, the White 2A and the Program EQ.
1 last point, I'm usually the guy handling the Twitface and it wasn't entirely iRing. :/
Yes...let's go back 11 years and take that price into consideration....GENIUS...SHEER GENIUS...

I have determined that these people hired by these companies are Marketing Geniuses....

In a depressed Economy...with 37% REAL unemployment...let's INCREASE PRICES!!!
(while EVERYONE else is lowering theirs)
AND sell the equivalent iApp at $10....

On another forum IKpeeter said that it was 64bit only but the vst Might work with a 64 to 32bit bridge. I don't believe he ever confirmed that though.

As if that matters in today's economy. Today $299 is a boatload of money for most us I can tell you that. I have not yet jumped ship on ST3 but the upgrade price better be darned attractive or you've lost one customer. And $249, $199 or $179 just ain't attractive to me.

Doubt I will buy this for a long time. I just got the upgrade to Kontakt 5 last month; I had Kontakt 4 for over 6 years before upgrading and I waited, and waited and just got it bundled in K9Ultimate. I want to explore it before confusing me with a different sampler. Given that Kontakt 5 regularly was available for $98 as an upgrade, I would not even consider ST3 unless it's upgrade price is at least as competitive in price and even if it is available at that price I will wait. Also, I want to hear what others see and hear in it and to see how stable it is. Like many here, I have waited this long, I can easily wait some more; I am just not in a hurry to get it any more. Shoot, I even waited until last week to upgrade to Ozone5 and that was for $79. But that is apples compared with oranges. Still, what I mean is that the price will really need to be competitive. I do admit that the new ST3 GUI (as seen on MF link) does look much more readable and that feature will be welcomed. From what I gleaned over at the KVR countdown thread there will not be a free player version for a while. I do wish IKMultimedia success with this. For now, I am happy with Kontakt 5 and I will and can wait a little longer.

Oh well. I hadn't used them in a while due to an issue with loading time increasing every time I changed a patch, and authorization issues every time I moved the content around - which wouldn't have been that bad if the authorization manager worked correctly and all the time. I'd already re-sampled a few of my most used patches in EXS-24 format. I'll find myself a mellotron library and move on. Adieu, IK. :)

There is not even a comparison...if you get Komplete on sale....even 20% off (399) grab it... There's a HOLLATTA goodness in Komplete.... I have no intention of waiting another 11 years for the next version to show up after 4000 new iCrapps....

That's a bit of interesting nostalgia. I had an Apple IIE that I absolutely loved. There were so many 3rd party add-ons available it was crazy. There use to be a monthly magazine called BYTE that looked like a Sears Catalog on steroids that was full of add-ons for the apple IIE. It was the hobbyist/experimenters dream machine. Then Apple came out with LISA that not many could afford and they did not sell well. Then the first MAC arrived and it was a Closed system. That ended my Apple relationship...
