Kenny, I started on a Boss BR-1180 and worked my way up to a Roland VS-2480. They were great. I never had one crash. Editing was no party and routing was not easy for me for a long time but they worked just fine.

It's Bass, not Bass.

I started with HomeStudio XL God alone knows how long ago with a Soundblaster sound card and quickly discovered the joys of latency. 🤣 Good advice to buy a 'proper' sound card was one of my first encounters with this forum. I've had so much great advice I've lost count and I've occasionally been able to put a bit back based on my own limited knowledge and experience.

I have massively enjoyed the songs forum - so much talent (self excluded) and diversity of genre - seriously humbling. I have also received great constructive critique for my own efforts and I think I'm a better songwriter for it - thank you for all those great comments.

Oh and I only ever got flamed once - my thanks to like-minded posters and mods who put that particular individual to the sword - you know who you are.

I shall miss you all.

Andy

I started out w HS 2 as my first DAW ...it has been an interesting ride ever since .

I did enjoy reading you post

Hi BassDaddy ,

I was very happy with my BR1180CD for a long while because I had no idea how hard it was to edit using it until I had gotten a PC and HS 2 .. Then I was like Whoa ....my eyes my eyes I can see again
Then I wound up using the BR for years only as the front end of my Delta 1010lt ..at the time I thought it had some nice tones ...

all the best,

Kenny

How much has the people here and this forum helped? Quite a bit but it depends on the person and what I know of them. I would take Craig Anderton's word as gospel along with the mods and hosts and some others here. Roseberry's advice on computer stuff. If I were looking for guitar advice, you Kenny, seem to be knowledgeable so I would heed your guitar advice.

IMHO, some others shouldn't even be here. I understand some people here use different DAWs for different things and they can offer perspective for comparisons.

Then there are those people that come here to needle and wave the flag for another DAW. They are just a-holes trying to stir the pot. Those skidmarks (you probably know who I mean) can stuff it. It is in extremely bad taste. Like me going to their home and spending all the time telling him that his wife or GF is beyond worthless and is trash. They were blocked long ago. :)

Sure I get what you are saying DrLumen ,

There are some people are here on the forum because they have a genuine knowledge and experience they want to share w us all ...we all could fill in the names & find a few repeats here and there ...many ...

On the other side of the coin some folks here on the forum are here because they are "not all there "....

On any given day I'm not always sure which group I belong in

Nice rapping w you , I hope you have a Merry Christmas .

Hey Kenny, I’m sure everyone will agree with me and wish you the best with your medical issues and hope your procedure/surgery goes well.

Come back soon and let us know how you go. If you’re not in a position to let us know maybe get a family member or friend to drop us a line here. Maybe someone local can pop in and say g’day if you’re laid up at home.

All the best..

Hi Mike ,

Thank you for the kind word and thoughts ...Things went better than I thought ...

The Right side of my heart was weak , the left side grew stronger to compensate ....
Now I have to enter the next stage of healing since they did not have to put stents or anything in there ...
Lifestyle changes and meds are the way the doctors feel we can get me back on the fast track of being healthier

I'm glad it went the way it did ...

Merry Christmas ,

...
Where do you stand folks ?
Do you trust the recommendations you have gotten here on the forum regarding your software and alternative non Cake DAW's purchases ?

Many of my go to tools I looked into because they were recommended here. Omnisphere and Alchemy are my go to synth and sampler and they were both recommended here. S-Gear is my go to amp sim and it was recommended here. I'm sure there are other tools I've picked up based on recommendations such as tonebooster's reelbus. Lurking on these forums has certainly been a benefit to me. And of course insight into recording, mixing, and mastering ...
