[Solved] Delete key. - it just stopped happening

Used to be. (sigh... old guys) that if I wanted to delete a clip I could highlight it and press the delete key.
Now when I do that (always) instead of deleting the clip, the delete synth dialog pops up. So I go edit, cut but that's two clicks instead of one delete key.

When did this happen?

Where do you have the Synth rack docked?
It can't be at the top of the browser.

I have never used the delete key. I always use the delete from the right click menu Edit/delete.

hmm.. I always use the delete key to delete highlighted clips - I haven't tried since updating to the 2017.1 version of splat a couple days ago, but it was certainly still working up until the 2016.12 version of splat..
will try again tonight and let you know.

After the final release of [2017.01], I have had no keyboard shortcut problems caused by using "Dock at Top" for the Synth Rack.

    1. Verify that you are running the final release for [2017.01], which is 23.1.0 Build 32.

The early release version of [2017.01] contained the issue that you are reporting, but the final release fixed it for me.  The final release also fixed the issue of the Synth Rack context menu displaying in the upper left corner of the screen when using Shift+A to Show/Hide automation lanes. See http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3550187.

    2. Verify that you didn't manually bind the delete key in any views to "workaround" the keyboard shortcut problems in [2016.12].

Some users found that manually binding the delete key caused problems in other views.

    Hope this helps,

I just tried this on my Laptop. I put TTS-1 in the Synth Rack and it was not docked but placed above the Browser. By default the Synth Rack is not docked. Then I used the delete key to delete it and it was deleted. It was the only synth in the rack. There is also a big red x in the synth rack for deleting synths. So far unless I am not understanding the issue I see nothing wrong.

What's an it? The clip or the synth?

There have been many posts in here about the delete key deleting a plugin instead of a highlighted clip - this sounds almost identical.

Ya know I've been using Sonar since 6 and the DEL key is how I cleared clips in a hurry.
So it's muscle memory from sometime that worked differently before.

I know that focusing on a fx bin and hitting the DEL key will delete the effect without warning AFAIK
anyway. - there should be an alert as there is for the synth deletion.

I'll try docking at the bottom tonight when I get home.

The subject is the synth. Therefore it is the synth.

However, a dialog came up asking if I wanted to also delete the tracks for that synth I said yes. All of the tracks and the synth were deleted using the delete key.

In that case you're not testing what the problem is at all. Bitman selects a clip he wants to delete, hits the delete key, and instead a synth from the synth rack is deleted.

I'm running 2017.1.  I'm able to delete clips by clicking on the clip to select it, then using the delete key.  Works the same as with previous versions.  This is how I've done it for years - no change for me in 2017.1

electrons... how many times have I had some weird phenomena happen in SPLAT,  replicate it several times, think about posting a bug on the forum, then decide to exit/reboot/reload/wait for a day and it works without incident?  A few weeks ago I came close to starting a log of odd behaviors, but then I thought, naaaaaa...
