[Solved] how can restrict loop to one time repeat in sonar X1
Hi Everybody, When I worked with Cakewalk Express 8, There were an option which let me restrict loop selection to play just one time and it stopped, when reached to End point of loop selection. Could anybody guide me,how can I apply it in sonar X1? regards, Ramtin

In SONAR, you can either convert it to a Groove Clip and roll it out for one more iteration, or copy-paste it (with or without linking to the original). Check the Ref. Guide for more info on Groove Clips.

I don't know Cakewalk Express so I am not familiar with this behavior. Do you want to choose a loop with the loop selection during playback and hear the loop you selected only one time? If that's what you want, I don't think this is possible. If you type Shift+Spacebar, any selection automatically becomes a loop, so although only the selection will play back, it will loop. If this is not what you want, please tell me more about what you want to do.

Dear Andertone, Thanks for your reply, Yes, you are right. Actually I am going to choose a selection, and when it playback, It start to play from Start point of selection and finish at end point of selection. I used to do it in cakewalk express 8 using loop selection, But I could not find the same setting in Sonar X1, and also could not find it in Ref. Guide. Please find the screen shot of the same thing that I was doing in sonar express 8. http://www.4shared.com/photo/cpv9H8yk/loop_Auto_shutle.html regards Ramtin

I have found the fallowing post in the below link return to year 2006.It may make some Idea, http://forum.cakewalk.com/simplest-way-to-mark-and-loop-m730555.aspxAlso, is there any way to get Sonar to loop 'just once' i.e every time you press play it will play the loop from beginning to end but then STOP!
Do either of these:
1. Right-click on the Time Ruler and select Auto Shuttle; or
2. Select menu Transport > Loop and Auto Shuttle
Then in the ensuing dialog box, uncheck "Loop Continuously"
I have the same problem in sonar X! But the "Loop and Auto Shuttle" is not available in X1, It's so strange that, the option has been removed in Sonar X1. Any Idea?

HumbleNoise Isn't looping designed to keep looping? Would punch record be better?
EDIT: Oh I see. 8.53 had an option. Don't know where (if) it is in X1.

Hi, Does Anybody knows the similar option in Sonar X1? Regards , Ramtin

If you load the clip in Matrix and set the loop function to one time, it will work. You can then trigger the loop using your controller or keyboard.

If you do that in X3, the selection will start looping automatically - the behavior is different than X1. But, I'm glad you found a solution!!

Dear Jan, I hrave not X3 But I guess you can set it manually. Please try the following that i have put here from sonar manual, hopefully could help you. Note: The SPACEBAR is now “globally” bound to the Play/stop button, so that when you have a plug-in window open, you can still start and stop playback with the SPACEBAR. menu.
To create a key binding using the computer keyboard 1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Key Bindings. 2. Check Computer in the Type of Keys list. 3. To quickly scroll to the key or key combination you want, click the Locate Key button, and then press the key or keys you want to use. 4. Highlight the key combination you want to use in the Key list. Keys on the number pad appear as Num “n.” If a key or combination is already bound to a global command by default, the name of the key appears in bold text, and the command it is bound to appears at the bottom of the Key Bindings dialog under Global Key Assignment. Binding a key or combination to a command and clicking OK overwrites any default binding for that key or combination. 5. In the Bind Context menu, select the context in which you want to use the key binding. 6. Highlight the command you want to assign from the Function list. 7. Click Bind to bind the key combination to the command. SONAR places an asterisk next to the key(s) that you chose, and draws a line from the highlighted key(s) to the command that the key(s) will trigger. Any keys that are assigned to commands have asterisks next to them. Any commands that have keys assigned to them list the keys in the Computer column and/or the MIDI column. 8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for all the keys you want to bind. 9. If you want to save these key bindings for other sessions, make sure that the Save Changes for Next Session check box is checked. 10. Click OK when you are done.
For more Information please check sonarX user manual. Regards Ramtin

Dear, Anderton and JPS Use the fallowing instruction for sonar X31- Find the Key binding window in Sonar X3. (In Sonar X1 , Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Key Bindings.) 2- Find “ Audition” In the “ Bind Context” menu Then select and Highlight it 3- Choose a combination of keys like Shift +A which are not bold (not used as presets) 4- Press “ Bind” button 5- If you want to save these key bindings for other sessions, make sure that the Save Changes for Next Session check box is checked. 6- Press “ Apply” or " OK" button
Please update forum the conclusion, Good luck Ramtin
