I found out iZotope has tested Neutron as a VST3 in the latest version of SONAR, and it worked fine. Also it has passed testing at Cakewalk, and several forumites have reported it as working. Hopefully whatever causes problems for some people can be isolated; meanwhile, there's always the demo version for those who want to find out if it works with their system or not. I'll be testing it over the weekend and will report back next week.

Okei thanks. Yes it is working as a charm, but the Track Assistant just spinning for me. I tried every method I can come up with. Looks simple on the tutorial videos and stuff. Just play & click.

iZotope responded to my request. I'm not sure why one of the steps is to download Neutron Standard especially since I paid for the Neutron Advanced version. Anyway, here is iZotope's response: " Hello,Thanks for contacting us, and I’m very sorry for the trouble you’re experiencing with Neutron! To resolve this issue please try the following:- Uninstall Neutron from your computer - Reinstall Neutron with a “custom” install, selecting only VST3 as the file typeDownload Neutron Standard: PC: * [link]link removed[/link] Let me know whether these steps work for you. Thanks!" Sincerely, Will iZotope Customer Care

I've tried the "Track Assistant" before and during the project and seems to have no problem, I have the Advance version, the symbol would spin for a few seconds then the program would make suggestions. My CPU usage is very low and I'm running up to 45 tracks with about 10-15 plug-ins (at the most) No pop or clicks as a few have mentioned, runs very good.

Using iZotope's suggestions and also adjusting my buffers just a bit, I think I can call this solved. Thanks everyone!

Not solved for me, but I get your point. For the most it working. I have read on Izotope Facebook page that several people do not get the track assistant to work. Just spins around forever, but that it all type of different Daws. So, not a Sonar case. I guess they come back to me soon with a suggestions hopefully. I tried the custom install with only vs3, but the same issue.

can any of you all help me with this installation issue? I have sent a ticket to Izotope but Friday at 3:45 Eastern doesn't seem like a great time to expect anything. The Neutron (and some other Izotope software) installation quickly reaches a critical failure with the error message "There was a problem starting C:\Program" and "The specified module could not be found." It almost seems like the error is in some installation component misinterpreting "C:\Program Files\..." as "C:\Program" followed by a space and then giving up. Am I missing something?

And, here is the response iZotope sent to the Sweetwater tech I notified. "Download Neutron Advanced: PC: * * [link=https://s3.amazonaws.com/izotopedownloads/product_download/iZotope_Neutron_Advanced_v1_00.exe]https://s3.amazonaws.com/...ron_Advanced_v1_00.exe[/link] We are currently tracking all CPU usage related issues. We aren’t able to reproduce them in SONAR but there are a few other things the customer can try: 1. Close and re-open the session – this can sometimes resolve temporary CPU problems that arise 2. Try disabling any other plug-ins that aren’t be used in large sessions 3. Try bouncing tracks in place or freezing tracks in large sessions. 4. Try increasing delay compensation from your host application’s preferences menu 5. Engage “Zero-Latency” mode in Neutron’s output. Additionally, please try the IRC LL (low latency) mode on the Limiter output. 6. Please verify you are running your host application in 64-bit mode.Let me know whether these steps work for you. Thanks!Sincerely, Will iZotope Customer Care"

i am so far having no problems at all with multiple ( 10 or 12 ) instances of Neutron on tracks and busses. All features that I've tried are working as expected on Sonar Platinum 2016.09. CPU hit is is very low. ASIO buffers set at 512. Mike

I have the exact same problem with Neutron Advanced. I opened a trouble ticket with iZotope and received the reply below. Unfortunately I won't be able to verify if any of this works until I'm back stateside in a few weeks, so hopefully someone here can see if this is helpful... Hello, For Track Assistant to work, the Neutron installer requires read/write access to your user-level application preferences. Please confirm you are installing with admin privileges. Additionally, during the installation please be sure not to select custom file paths OR plug-in types. This ‘Easy Install’ will allow the product installer to place all necessary files in their designated file paths. If you still have trouble follow these steps: Track assistant requires that a specific file be placed your user-level application preferences, in the same user account and hard drive as the Neutron plug-in file. Please navigate to the following directory: Mac Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iZotope/Neutron/ PC C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\iZotope\Neutron\ Please confirm the following file is in this location: instrument_classifier_params.npz - To find your user-level library folder in OS X, open Finder and click “Go” while holding the “Alt” key – a Library icon will appear. Navigate to Library/Application Support/iZotope/Neutron/
*To find your user-level AppData folder in Windows 7/8, click Start or go to the Windows Search charm, type %appdata%, and select the Roaming folder. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\iZotope\Neutron\ . *To find your user-level AppData folder in Windows 10, open File Explorer and and navigate to C:\Users\<username>\. use the View tab at the very top and tick the option Hidden Items. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\iZotope\Neutron\ . If that file is not in the User – level library location, you can download it via the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vc65duazb52pkn0/instrument_classifier_params.npz?dl=0Please let us know if you continue to have trouble.

The only thing I would change from the above post is that VS2 does not work. If you select the "Easy Install" it WILL install VS2 as well and will default to VS2. I was told by iZotope support to use the "custom install ' and ONLY select VS3.

I can understand iZotope trying different ways to solve this until they come up with an update or something. I'll just have to wait to see how my system responds when I'm back in a few weeks... Since I travel so much I should probably consider a mobile rig for mixing...

I'm having similar problems with Neutron Advanced. Thanks for the tip about the VST2 versions which are completely unusable. The VST3 version seems better but Track Assistant is very flaky! I added 4 instances of Neutron to drums, guitar1 and 2 and bass. Track Assistant worked fine on drums. On Guitar 1 TA runs and makes adjustments but then locks up until Sonar stops at Project End (glad I had that set). Same story on the other tracks. Hit play again and same story - cannot do anything until it stops at the end of the tracks (4 mins 30 sec for this song). Very tedious! I have checked and do have the paramz file mentioned above. So is the best thing I can do next to install the normal version of Neutron (not advanced)? Any suggestions gratefully received. ZT

Have you tried increasing the audio interface buffer size yet? Neutron and other iZotope plugins run better for me if I have a higher buffer size set on my audio interface.

Hi Art... Given that you're running multiple instances flawlessly and Neutron is apparently a resource hog, curious to know your rig specs. What's your computer setup? Thanks...

VST 3 solved the problem for me. HOWEVER, I was already close to my limit with plugins so I had to delete a few hogs.
