Looking at the ezine seems likely to be a regression bug once validated... Fixed issue where under certain conditions smart tool was not able to slip edit clips with small fades. (CWBRN-5396, CWBRN-4157) Clip Lock icon obscuring the Clip name is no longer an issue. (CWBRN-23592)

During the first seconds you are clicking on the track, but not on the track number... From what I know, focusing track and selecting material are completely independent tasks.

You need to click the track number to select. There's a difference between track "focus" which is only on track at a time, and track selection, which can apply to multiple tracks. SONAR has never selected clips based on track focus.

Clicking on the track number is absolutely imperative. Just clicking on the track brings the track "In Focus". Clicking on the number "Selects" the track (and the number on a selected track will turn blue). Only one track can be "In Focus" at one time but multiple tracks can be "Selected". In Focus tracks can only perform some limited functions compared to fully "Selected" tracks. If this is the confusion (which is understandable) then the test needs to be redone using the correct selection method.

Tested in X3, it does not work your way either (as expected). BTW I am fighting with focus/selection/data cursor "triality" from other direction for quite some time already, I have not found the way to sync first two or first and third does not matter which tricks I have used... X2,X3,SPlat.

Yes. If a track is selected, the track number lights up, when I try to select another track or multiple tracks, only the original stays lit and the other track does not get selected.

gustabo Repro steps: New project Drag two separate audio files into the project. Select a portion from the timeline and then select the first track you dragged in. Or select a portion from one of the two tracks and then try to change tracks. Or try to select both tracks...
Doktor #14 works on 8.1 and Foxborough, just in case people question whether it was working before. I won't be installing Gloucester for a couple of weeks/next maintenance release so sorry I can't test.
gustabo Here's an iPhone video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hbnq-Bjmar8
Bill Jackson [Cakewalk] SONAR has never selected clips based on track focus.
Well I can select with Foxborough, it seems to select using gustabo's steps in post #14, and it doesn't seem to select according to his video using the same steps.

Focus another track (as you do in the video) and press Ctrl+',' (comma). Does that extend the selection?

The evil black pointer is a stock MSoft issue alternative to the standard default pointer... Just re-downloaded from the store and reinstalled, no change... This issue appears on two different systems with a blank project (no plugins at all). No control surfaces on the laptop, not using ASIO4ALL, using the latest Focusrite drivers for the Scarlett 6i6 connected to my laptop.

The video was done with Gloucester, so can't help you out there. When a veteran user encounters a problem no one else can reproduce, it further bolsters my "poltergeists are real" theory.
