Dan Cate [Cakewalk]
Hi Bob,

Thank you for your video. I was able to determine the problem and there is a work-around. After launching a project in Sonar go to the Views menu - Icons - Track View  and enable "Show in Header". This should restore your ability to select tracks in the Track View.

It appears the lack of icon in the header is offsetting the selection area for the control. This is indeed a bug and I've reported it to our developers. In the meantime, showing the icon in the track view strip should fix the issue for you.

Thanks for your patience and providing the information we need to solve the issue!

Yes, that workaround works! Thanks so much!!!

Bill Jackson asked about showing track icons earlier, and Bob said it made no difference. But maybe he didn't set/check it properly.

I thought he meant the icon at the bottom of the Track Inspector accessed through the "display" dropdown.
I've had the other icons disabled for so long that I forgot their existence.

I used to tell my kids "Thought thought he sat on the toilet but he didn't".

I try my best to remember that when I "think" I understand what someone else is saying I verify with them that we are saying the same thing.

I figured something like that. Goes to show the importance of detail and precision in both problem and solution descriptions. Glad you got it figured in any case.

My Dad once gave me a copy of a quote that i have always cherished... I think it applies here and I hope you enjoy it too!

"I know you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant..."

Having read all this thread I'm still unsure - is this a new bug introduced in Gloucester or an obscure existing issue appearing only when certain track option display combinations appertain?

New bug with an easy workaround, hasn't affected most people because most people apparently leave their track icons on.

After reading these posts I went and disabled the Icons in the header to see if I had this issue and I did. I also found that if you click the number box all the way to left edge as far as you can go it works as expected without having to enable the Icons in header, just FYI.

Exactly, that's what I was demonstrating in my last video. The clickable area was only about 1 or 2 pixels wide...

The buglist list is linked at the bottom of the announcement page, but is sort of short and sweet.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

As there are fewer bugs to fix, perchance..

Not being a coder, this is mere speculation, but is it possible that some bugs are quicker to fix than others?

The ones that are quicker to fix are being fixed quickly, the longer term ones are taking longer?

As the quick ones are fixed quickly, more of them can be fixed in a short time? As the list diminishes, there will be fewer fixes that take longer to deal with?

I have no idea, I guess only Cakwalk know, so all else is speculation.  They seem to be doing a great job.  I will leave it up to their discretion, as they are the only ones in possession of all the facts.

All fair points. To add fixing regression bugs has clearly made a contribution. There are still a lot of long standing bugs (check out X3E list) and there is a noticeable slowdown at least on monthly release cycle probably because of future development. Hopefully there will be sone good surprises before the first 12 months is up. I'm not going to make any big assessment until then.
