When I see those poor suckers with their 'industry standard' Pro-tools, on their $2000 MacBooks, who can't even run input monitoring at a low enough latency to work comfortably, I realize how ignorant people are. I used to try to help them and explain, but they don't want to hear.

I'm one of those "suckers".
You seem to be making an awful lot of assumptions there.

MacBook Pro can be bought for less much than $2000.

Input monitoring works just fine for me on mine.

Some "suckers" like me also happen to have years of experience on the PC platform and actually used to put their own machine together from scratch.

So while you are entitled to your opinions, we'd still have to determine exactly what you could explain to them/us.

Ignorance and assumptions go hand in hand.

Let me make one thing clear: I didn't call EVERYONE with a Macbook a sucker. The $2000 figure is an average, there are ones in excess of $3000, but I digress. I'm not making asummptions here, I'm talking about people I KNOW and some actual FRIENDS of mine. And not just one or two, but hordes of them here in L.A. I'm talking about guys paying MORE than $2000 for their laptop, and another $500 for an Mbox, leaving them without the ability to run their guitars with 5ms latency through an amp sim, thus forcing them to buy yet ANOTHER piece of gear, like a POD or something. The solution in the land of the fruit is usually to spend MORE money and I'm talking about guys who live paycheck to paycheck. If you don't have health-insurance, cuz you can't afford it, but walk around with a Mac/iPhone/Beats you are a sucker. You've been suckered in to the vortext of marketing and hype.

I can't believe poeple haven't stopped this line of thinking already....

The machines are machines... But in the hands of a "driven" user, art gets made!

Which type of brush did Matisse use? Was it better than those used by Picasso? C'mon guys... Let's stop debating which is better and simply help each other work with our chosen tools....

Please?
