Philip Phillips (apparently his middle name is Phillip too) better hope he goes out next - it's the best thing that could happen for his career.

I agree 100% with the non-marketability factor of this year's top 4.... well now it's really 3.

Josh was born too late. He should have been born in the 50's so he could have had a stellar career in soul music. Since that type of music is not sung anymore...... IDK what genre & style he would fit into today, other than to be a gospel singer for the love of the music.

Jess... she hasn't found her niche yet.... superb voice but she needs to find a place for it.

PPP.... seriously? all 3 of his names are phillip to one degree or another?  He can probably have a successful indy career.

I don't think at this point any of this bunch will rise to the Clarkston/Underwood levels of success.

I was kidding about the middle name..........the problem is that you need to be percieved as cool to have an indie career and AI is not cool. He has handled himself well though - I belive that he refused to do the Ford ads - they are extremely cheesy

I learned this morning why I didn't know what AI was...

18 to 49 and they've lost 18% of them this last year.
I think there may be another plus to being over 55. :)

FWIW I see this show not as a competition but as an "entertainment" show with low paid acts for most of the season.

Seriously, I do not get caught up in the drama.

Excuse me while I go weep in the corner because Holiie was sent home.

I'm seriously disappointed that his middle name isn't Phillip too...

PP reminds me of the hippy chick last season? who used a lamp stand for a mike stand one night. Quite original but coffee house level entertainment.

You say that like it's a bad thing!

Is it? IDK....I guess it did kinda come out sounding that way......

I played a coffee house or two in my early days.  It can be quite fun. And with a reputation and a good fan base, some merchandise like T-shirts and CD's, a website that is current, and good music on CD and for download, a respectable living can be made at that "level" in the music business. At least one isn't having to get up at zero dark thirty to dodge the rat race into the office 5 days a week.....right?

The coffee house stage is certainly more intimate and closer to the audience than the concert stages in arenas.

Plus, you can interact with the couple of hundred people in a coffee house on a one to one basis.... try that at a show with 30, 000 people.

There's a lot to be said about playing the smaller club  circuit.

No it was not in ten did as a swipe at folks who play that circuit.

(The other type I'll usually reference as the "sensitive coffee house singer" type. )

If it wasn't for that bogus save, the entire outcome would have been different. Well, I should not say entirely different, but Hollie would have been in the final 3 and facing off against the soul man.

Jessica will not win, she's extremely talented but still a kid.

After last night...IMHO... no changes in the lineup as I called it in the past.

Phillip goes home tonight I do believe.  Probably and mostly because his performances were to me..........lackluster and average. He didn't bring his game.

Josh wins it next week.

The Save was a great tool added after the Chris Daughtry loss. What a disaster that season was. I think the judges over react when using it now, almost a use it before ya loose it kinda thing. They shouldnt use it if the situation doesnt exist to really need to save someone (ie-Someone is not going before someone else that shouldnt).  That is the only fault with this show, if people dont or fail to call to support the best choises, a less likely choice or talent will go through.
I agrre with you on Jessica, outstanding singer for her age but so far to go and so young.

Josh is good but not my taste and his whining/growling/screaming gets under my skin.

Phillip would be my choice now that he is growing out of his predictible performances. It was getting to me early in the show but it my opinion is slowly changing on him as he grows into his own THING.

That said, it is a phone vote so ANYTHING can happen and the outcome is never certain regardless of the talent presented.

Excuse me while I go weep in the corner because Holiie was sent home.
+1 on missing Hollie.  There were a lot of shots of her in the audience during last night's show, only while Joshua was singing.  Are they an item?  (Dang!  Why do I get sucked into this show every season?!)

After last night's performances, I'd say the finale will be Joshua and Phillip.  I love Joshua's soul style.  And while Phillip's style is not for me, his Bob Seger song was surprisingly good.  Not to mention, the phone and online voting for this show was hijacked by teenage girls years ago, which is why AI has had 5 straight years of guy winners.

+23.998796 on missing Hollie vs Jessica.

At this point based on "the total package" I think Phillip is the most marketable even if Joshua is a "throwback".

+1000.9 on the (bogus wasted) save of Jessica.

Not just your opinion, Bapu...

I enjoyed Phillip and found myself wanting to skip Jessica and Joshua out of sheer boredom.  Sure, Jessica's got a great voice and probably has a brilliant future.  When she keeps it simple and just sings the melody, I think she sounds great.  When she goes off on her "Star Search" style vocal runs 593 times per song, I can't reach the mute button fast enough.

I miss Elise.  She may not have been as marketable, but at least she was interesting.

Obviously, my tastes and America's tastes don't coincide very often.

I agree.  After last night's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" Jessica has sewn up her staring role in "Aerosmith: The Broadway Musical".

I don't mean to knock Jessica's talent.  She is crazy talented.  I just don't want to listen to her.  For female vocals, I would much rather listen to someone like Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt or Melody Gardot.

Jessica reminds me too much of the female pop singers from the 1960s and 1970s.  I would have heard this on constant rotation at my supermarket job in the mid-1980s.  I was just one of a number of teenage stockboys who had inadvertently memorized "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?".

Do you hear that edge to Jessica's voice?  You know, that brittle, rather obnoxious edge in her voice when she's pushing it too hard?  I don't mean her growl.  I'm okay with the growl.  Is it just me?  I hear this sharp edge in her tone that is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Am I the only one hearing it?  Are the judges (and Jimmy) unable to hear it?  Are they hearing it and thinking it's good?  Is that the problem?  Do I just not know what "good" sounds like?  (There's a distinct possibility that answer is YES.)

I hear it. It's not good.

The judges like her growl and (INHO) they don't hear that other cr@p in her voice.
