digi2ns Anyone notice that Phillip is never in the Ford Videos? Found out that its his days of rest for a kidney problem until he gets his operation after the show.

The people have spoken... down to the final 2. Somehow or another.... everything in my world this morning is the same..... nothing is new or even slightly different here that I can tell. My coffee maker is still broken, my truck is still in the shop, and the skies are still cloudy.

Guitarhacker The people have spoken... down to the final 2. Yep, but it's not the final two I wanted. Every season, the wife and I get sucked into American Idol, and every season we draw the same conclusions: - Fox cannot broadcast live music. I don't mean it's my TV or home theater set-up. I mean, "that person's mic isn't turned on." After 11 years, I was hoping for improvement.
- The judges are hearing something different. Still don't get the wide appeal of Phil Phillips. Never understood the judge's love for past winner Lee Dewyze. He's got the perfect voice for a Counting Crows tribute band, but that's it.
- I am way out of step with America's choices.
Okay, that's the whole rant. Can't say for sure I'll even watch next week's finale. (sigh)

While watching the show.... my wife made the comment that Lambert was lip syncing his tune.... so I started to pay real close attention and it certainly did seem to be a slight and inconsistent difference between the audio and video. Both his tune and LMP's tune was just plain bad. I thought PP should have gone home.... but there is no accounting for the tastes of people in the national audience.

Here's my take. The votes do not count. The judges do not count. It's an entertainment show, not a real competition. It's staged. The producers decide who stay (the whole way), with the possible exception of "the save" and I'm not 100% sold on that either. That said, PP is the most "original" artist IMO. Is he the best singer (technically)? No. Elise was better. At times HeyJune was better. Technically Jessica is better, I just don't like her. So for my entertainment value I hope the producers pick PP. I also hope Herb gets a new coffee maker, his truck gets out of the shop and the weather improves too.

bapu .......... I also hope Herb gets a new coffee maker, his truck gets out of the shop and the weather improves too. The sun is shining a bit..... the truck is ready to be picked up when my daughter gets home from school..... and Walmart has coffee makers.... so at least those 3 things are on the way to being right. When Jimmy (who is that guy anyway?) was saying Philip's version of the Bob Seegar song was the best on the show the previous night, I threw up in my mouth and had to chew it back..... WHAT? Now that Jessica and Phillip are the final 2 standing..... hummmmm.... Jessica wins it next week IMHO. There has been discussion in the past that the show is totally fake, and the 2 really big winners were in fact planted by record companies to win as advertising for the new artist..... conspiracy theories abound on this topic. Let me get my tinfoil hat.....

iovine is the real deal... but whatever he's telling this philip guy, is just not working. Born in Brooklyn, Iovine began his career as a recording engineer in the mid-1970s, working with Raspberries, John Lennon and Bruce Springsteen. He went on to produce albums for U2 (Rattle & Hum), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks, Golden Earring, Simple Minds, Dire Straits, Flame (featuring Marge Raymond, Jimmy Crespo, Bob Leone, and others), and Patti Smith. Iovine established Interscope Records in 1991 with the release of Gerardo's Mo' Ritmo. It went on to become Interscope-Geffen-A&M following Universal's acquisition of PolyGram when Iovine was named co-chairman; in 2001, he became chairman.

OK...OK...OK..... I get it... I figured he was someone who knew what he was doing especially on the production end of things..... Impressive resume to be sure. So... the question could be asked and puzzled over....why he is on AI... but I guess more than anything.... for the money.... J-lo is making $20 million this year and made $12 million last year..... $32 million and certainly not a shabby sum for 2 years of doing AI..... 6 months off.... in between ...even after taxes. So.... I doubt Jimmy is making that kind of money but I'm guessing still in the 7 digits for this season.

It looks like Phillip just sandbagged Jessica. Killer tune to finish the contest and I think I heard the judges saying it was his own song? The world is not going to vote in another diva. Still not my favourite of the season, but I'm on team Phil. Scotty from last year was sounding very good when closing out the show.
