How about a dog who looks like a penis? No apologies to anyone for this

It's tedious, dull, and transparent. You're from England aren't you sharke? You'll know the sort, every pub has one.............

Off topic (not the chocolate kind) but the phrase "every pub has one" always reminds me of this guy

mike_mccueI think the title of the thread where I posted the passage you quoted speaks for itself. I've been known to hang out with a fairly rough crowd... so I know what that word means. :-) I don't think any of us should presume to know what others should not be offended by and I think there are some fairly basic notions of what does and doesn't fly

All in all I do not have an issue with the folks in the forum, although I can't help thinking that some might not care, and will still give me a name or two. It doesn't matter to me, I love them all the same ... and I accept that at times, I stand up for my own Statue of Liberty! But, at times, it's like there can only be one "liberty", and other's views and opinions do not count or matter.

IN some ways, there are times when Bapu or Mooch, or others, break up the thread with something completely out of line, that belongs in Mars or Venus, or Pluto, and I have come to appreciate that ... because it lightens up the board and keeps the seriousness on its toes ... I'm ok with that now, though at one time I told off Bapu in private, and I will never do that again ... as I did not think that Bapu meant badly ... though I felt hurt by it.

There are some discussions that are more interesting and involve more study and research ... and if there is something I do not care for, and even Craig, Bapu, Mooch, and others do it ... is that they will make a point of breaking apart the thread ... and sadly, that hurts a lot of independent thinking and learning, that some folks, simply are not interested in.

I'm an artist, writer and poet ... and my work, just like the writings in progressive music, and record of my film reviews and music reviews, has always been about its history, and the different things out there ... sadly, and this is not a judgement on my part, too much of the work heard here is almost the same thing that has been done before, and ... when one really nice, and different thing comes around ... that person could not even understand my comments ... she knows who she is! But everyone said .... nice ... and dropped the conversation ... where others ignored it? ... I wrote a few poems and decided that I did not want to embarass her ... and promptly buried them ... they will never be read until after I'm gone!

Soem folks look at all this as "art" ... of the heart, the mind and the soul ... but for too many folks, there is only notes and scales ... they can not see the other side of the mechanics, and someone like me talking about it, is not fun, or enjoyable ... but it's like this ... do you really think that the famous stories of the Paris cafe's with the writers and artists there yapping, spent their time just masticating with their own curd? and not learn how to use it better, or create a new piece? Wel,, the CHB is not Paris, but the ability to help and discuss and learn ... is not appreciated except by a handful of folks and they know who they are!

So yeah, my apologies (nver got one of your emails), but I have used the French word for ____ a few times on purpose ... and will refrain from doing that again ... and yes, your points here are well taken ... in my book! But will a few folks that simply do not care ... ever bother to read it and pay attention to it? ... that is the question! If their song limit is 3 minutes, your post is longer than that! ... hehehe!!!!!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

Johnny Depp agrees with you apparently.

The first I remember of Paul Whitehouse was on the Harry Enfield show in the late 80's/early 90's. I always thought he was way funnier than Enfield. Their portrayal of Smashie and Nicey, the cheesy transatlantic radio DJ's, was classic.

Simon Day of the Fast Show, who plays Billy Bleach in that clip, is an underrated actor. He's brilliant in everything he does. This is him and Paul Whitehouse in one of my favorite FS sketches, cracks me up every time (has a short Jessie's Diets sketch before it in this vid)

Lawd gawd how I love Rowley Birkin.

I had found not too long back on YouTube most all the episodes of Paul and Chris Langham's show "Help".  Paul's multitude of characters were quite simply breathtaking.  I was completely crushed when I learned that due to Chris's dreadful and very disturbing downfall that the show ran only one season.  I've been trying in vain to find a DVD of all episodes but due to the nature of Chris's troubles it seems that no one sells it anywhere on planet Earth.  If any of you British chaps has any idea where such a thing might be available I would be forever in your debt.

Thanks again to all for the links!!  As they say at McDonalds, "I'm Lovin It!"

The Ted and Ralph sketches were also brilliant. Paul Whitehouse was a master of that very special kind of comedy which is both hilarious and touching. There was one where they buried groundskeeper Ted's wife and Ralph made a poignant although awkward speech about the circle of life before walking Ted back to the house. In the last scene they're walking away from camera, Ted stumbles a little and Ralph supports him, all the while Vaughan Williams' Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Tallis is playing -- chokes me up every time, even though it's a comedy sketch.

That's what makes a great comedy sketch show...great writing and brilliant acting.  Some of Paul's characters in Help (the old taxi driver who cared for his ailing wife for instance) made me cry like a baby.

I find this thread oddly comforting. Perhaps it is a demonstration of consistency in a rapidly changing world that makes it so. Knowing that every couple of months, when I get the urge to see what is up down here, I will find that within the first ten thread will be a thread just like this. It is like a comfortable old shoe.
I have you blocked, but I had to take a peak at this because of the subject at hand.

I'm not going to sugar coat this ...

The atmosphere here today is a direct result of you and John.

The two of you destroyed this forum.

There's some newcomers like Sharke and Beepster that weren't here when it happened, or maybe they were just observers at the time, but let me tell you guys, this was a completely different place until this guy and John came down here one time and started a thread that totally ruined this place.

And then ... to top it all off ... when the forum changed the way they wanted it to, the only time they come back here is to dig at people, like with this post.

I remember that time Bub. I'm not as regular down here as some and while Foxwolfen, John, and a couple of others IIRC caused quite a stir I think it's the people that actually do the posting that make the place what it is rather than those who comment on it. A place can only change if those using it change.

If those named above caused that to happen maybe they struck a chord somewhere. One of the real problems is still here as has already been commented on by myself and others.

Anyway don't take too much notice of me, I'm just a cowardly troll who is about to disappear back upstairs to a much calmer atmosphere.

What cheeses me off, ever so slightly, is that I am seeing strangeness from peeps who have been helpful to me in the past and I wonder now why I ever bothered coming into the coffee house. It could sour the whole experience, if I let it.

I think the wisest thing to do, for me at least, would be to ignore all this, pretend it never happened and move on. And in future, just lurk around, and post when I feel I can help, in the music specific forums.

I've hardly had anything to do with anything in here anyways, just adding a comment here and there in an attempt to fit in and be funny :-)

Ya know what, your 100% right. And I'm tired of kissing ass begging people to come back and not even getting so much as a thanks. Even if to say, don't waste your time, it's over ... but to be totally ignored. I'm starting to think they get off on it and I'm not wasting my time any more.
If those named above caused that to happen maybe they struck a chord somewhere. One of the real problems is still here as has already been commented on by myself and others.

You're not a cowardly troll. People say things all the time that they don't really mean, especially when they are wounded. And Mike's really been stabbed at a lot lately, unnecessarily.

There's a difference between a couple guys losing their cool and saying things they regret later and people like John and Foxwolfen that intentionally say things to destroy friendships, be extremely hurtful, and destroy an entire forum. And then to see him start that Ba_Midi thread ... it was one of the most sickening things I ever saw in my life. Taking on the role of this all caring and compassionate man, when just a month before he single handed destroyed an entire forum ... please. Not to mention the way he interacts with people with his condescending attitude. It made me sick. He didn't do any of that for Billy or his family, he did it all for himself. He probably sees himself in the same caliber as Billy, and let me tell you ... the guy isn't even a pimple on Billy's ass.

Anyway, I'm done with this and all the little mind games people get off on around here. It's stupid. Say what you want about me, but I always say exactly what and who is on my mind and there's never any doubt ...

Me too.

Even when some people would say I'm stabbing someone unecessarily.

It might feel like it's necessary to me otherwise why would I bother?

I observe Mike has peed a lot of people off on an individual basis, over a considerable period of time and I don't doubt any of them have drawn their own conclusions so it looks to me he reaps exactly what he sows.  Karls' beef with McQ looks very similar to the one I have with him, but it came about again from a seperate instance McQ adopting his usual style of being keen to appear as a know all but in reality having no clue whatsoever about the subject in hand.  When found out the man has a tendency to act in a transparently mean spirited way, without ever caring to look at the role his own conduct has played in the many disagreements he gets himself involved in.

You are defending your own right to say what you like about whoever and as far as I can tell nobody draws judgements about your interaction with others, then why not extend the same priviledge you are giving yourself to others also.

I'd say you are a good guy too but I do notice a tendency of yours to be abitrary in your judgements.  That's not a criticism btw, rather an observation.

Likewise, I always say exactly what and who is on my mind and there's never any doubt ... for me that just seems it should be a given in any kind of communication.

I'd rather not have written any of this but the challenge was there as you obviously feel like I've been treating someone unfairly and made a point of slipping that little comment in.  I thought it was unfair.
