Is there some reason you are putting it in the FX bin? You do know its built in right? No need to use it in the FX bin at all. But it shouldn't crash Sonar no matter how you use it.

Well, you might want to run your EQ after compressing the signal, that's one good use of putting it in the FX bin. I like to apply any filtering, LPF & HPF using the built in EQ, then use the FX bin for the creative use of EQ, rather than using it as a corrective process.

Of course there are reasons but from the posts I got the impression that the posters didn't know that it is built in.

After some testing I found out the sonitus Eq does not crash Sonar 6.2.1 PE 32-bit. Only 64-bit, and usually when there's 3 or more virtual instruments playing (Omnisphere, Stylus RMX and Kontakt 3.5). Can anyone else confirm this?

John Well I am on 8.5.2 so no. I knew this was an old thread. LOL After searching this forum for a while it seems like this problem has occurred on several Sonar versions (6,7 and 8), so if you really want to you can do a quick test. ;)

Bumping this thread once again with a solution (at least for me) if anyone is interested. I've sent some e-mails back and forth with Cakewalk Tech Support over the past few weeks regarding this problem and they ended up sending me the VST version of the Sonitus FX Suite. Using the VST version instead of the DXi version fixed the problem for me. Although the VST version is 32-bit only, I (obviously) prefer using the bitbridge instead of getting random crashes. So it seems like the DXi version of the Sonitus FX's causes problems on some computers. I'm not sure if Sonar only comes with the DXi version but if you have the VST version, try it out and see if it helps.

The op never said what his system was , except for the os, ram and ext interface and the ever popular SB xfi whatever? Or did I miss it? BTW, I can add as many plugs to the fx bin as I want, never heard of this 2 limit stuff? Also, mentioning the SB card makes me believe that he has it active also? No?

I don't know about the OP, I just posted what solved my (similar) problem. The Sonitus FX's (DXi) does not use the bitbridge in Sonar x64 so I assume it's 64bit unless DXi plugins works diffrently in 64bit than VST plugins.

For some reason I thought they were 32bit, could have just been a bad dream. Either way, they work great here. Glad you got your stuff solved! That's always a good thing

I have exactly the same problem. Sonitus EQ ALWAYS crashes my Sonar 8.5.2 whenever I load it, on any project. The built-in EQ crashes all the same, whenever I turn it on. Pretty scary, isn't it? My OS is Windows 64.

Pretty scary, isn't it? My OS is Windows 64. It can work, so there is probably some configuration or system specific issue at play. I had Sonitus EQ on almost every track in my Orchestral Shootout submission, amd I use it and the other Sonitus effects frequently without problems. So contact support and don't give up hope.

I am also having this problem, but the computer only crashes when I insert a new EQ on VST plugin tracks. If I use an already opened EQ from a different track, and drag it down to the VST track, the computer doesn't crash. If I insert a new EQ on recorded material, it doesn't crash either. It only crashes on VST plugins. My sollution: Installing Sonitus:FX VST instead of DXI, but this isn't a good sollution as I experience some delay on the VST version.
