Sonar Plat crashing when finished export.

Hi guys, Yesterday I exported a project I had been working on and when the export had finished sonar crashed. when exporting I have all boxes ticked, bouncing to 16 bit and using triangular dither. The export screen comes up and the line in the time section of the control bar moves to the end but when it's finished the mouse point stays as the spinning circle and when I press a button the screen goes that white colour and sonar crashes. Has happened 6 times in a row on different projects, Everything was ok before December, not sure when in November was the last time I exported a project. Also when I try to go back into sonar it says there is no audio device connected and I have to disconnect and then reconnect my roland quad capture. The funny thing is the project has exported and is ok.
I have a packhard bell i5-440 with 8 gig of ram, roland quad capture (latest driver installed), sonar platinum (lexington).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the long post, tried to be as detailed as possible.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi,
I had encountered this problem sometimes and in my case it was always due to Aether plug-in when off-line render oversampling is set on4x.This might be zero help in your case but just to mention that this kind of strange behavior can be caused by a plug-in.
All the best.
Olivier.

Just a little update on this one. This was still happening regardless of plugins. Turns out that if I had the 64 bit engine box ticked in the export dialogue that seems to have been causing the crash.

Just to confirm your experience, it happen to me every now and then too!

It seems to have gotten worse somewhere after one of the latest updates. Perhaps the Kingston "optimizations" have a few bugs left to be dealt with by Cakewalk?

I've learned to always save just before exporting. Then, at the next try it usually works, but...

I've had it happen randomly on exporting a wav or mp3 with the default settings for entire mix

On a related note: Why would exporting a track to a wave file result in the wave file being completely corrupted and distorted?   Would that be my buffers?

Hi, I´m also having this problem. I´m running Lexington in Win10 64bit. Everything else seems to be working wine but if I export audio, Sonar crashes right after the export and LAME mp3 encoding (if mp3 export). 64bit engine on / off does not make a difference.

Were you getting this crashing with any other Plat versions?

I´m not sure, I had some other problems with Sonar crashing quite often (solved now, except for the export issue) so it´s hard to tell if it was the same problem.

For me the export crash has happened only on rare occasions in the last 6 months. Since Lexington was pretty unstable for me, I didn't try to export, I'm back t using Ipswich.

I think I´ve found out what caused my export crashes.

Sometimes, windows reported a certain DLL file as the culprit (PCS-BusCM.dll) together with some information about the crash. I recently found out that this is actually specific prochannel module (PC4K bus compressor). I was only using it on one specific bus for sidechaining purposes and after disabling it, I´ve not had a single crash.

So, at least for now, my problem seem to be solved.

 Edit:
I wrote about my findings here as well:

That's two threads now saying the PC4K compressor is involved in export crashes.

My stuff

Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz, 4 cores, 8 threads, 16GB RAM.
OS & Programs drive: 240GB SSD
Data drives: 1 x 1TB drive RAID mirrored, plus extra 1TB data drive
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Cakewalk by BandLab 64 bit, Studio One 3,
Band In A Box 2016, Ozone 8
+ too many other plugins

My crashes on export were out of the blue and when I reopened Plat again and tried it they always worked the 2nd time. I think this thread indicates the need to have a good look at export and see why it's so easy to crash.
