Almost pathetically, sadly funny. Price is a bit crazy for something that is not being officially supported any more. If indeed it isn’t a mistake or an early April fools joke.

Wow! If it's not a mistake on the part of Guitar Center, that is VERY interesting. We'll probably have to wait and see. I don't want to get my expectations too high.

Maybe music retailers don't keep up with the news. I was in a music store recently, chatting to the store manager. I noticed a few Gibson-brand products on display and I mentioned something about the current state of Gibson. He responded vaguely as though he knew nothing about it.

I think the price might be right from GC’s PoV. A number of people in this forum have said things like “Oh, I’m still using X1 [or X2, or X3, or whatever] and I so much regret that I didn’t upgrade to Platinum when it was still possible.” With GC still having a couple of boxes in stock, some users might just think that this is their last chance to upgrade to the last version of something they already know. And probably quite rightly so. Prices are all about supply and demand I wouldn’t be surprised if the demand in this case was larger than the supply. But I’m quite sure it doesn’t mean anything more than that. If there were to be a happy ending to the Sonar Saga, I’m sure we wouldn’t be hearing about it through Guitar Center.

I've seen this popping up several times on Face Book as well. Seems like something is up.
I'm guessing that "popping up on Facebook" means that people are posting the same link. I wouldn't read too much into it - my guess is that it's either human error, a computer glitch, or some kind of automated date from their stocking system. Perhaps when something is officially flagged as "out of stock," it carries a default "back in stock by..." time frame in their system, which generates a date which is automatically added to that product's page. Of course I may be talking out of my arse since I have no idea how their system works. I did email their customer support to ask so we'll see what they say (knowing GC, probably some crappy canned response which sheds no light on anything).

Ya, agreed. It really doesn't matter to me, I'm working in S1 and learning a new DAW. I thought the chatter was interesting.

Maybe is like the Coca Cola gimmick in 1986 when they reformulated the new flavor (for their 100th anniversary)... Went over like a ton of bricks so Coke backpedaled and recovered.
In 2017, Gibson is reliving history on Cakewalk's 30th by... no wait... now I remember...
In 1985, Austrian rock singer Falco records...

I got the following reply from Guitar Center: "I do see we have an estimated time when they will be sending us this item again. That would be on march 5th. It is showing that it is order-able and if you would like to get the item we will set an order up for you. We appreciate you choosing GuitarCenter.com. If you should have any questions, concerns or you're not 100% satisfied, please feel free to reach out to your Guitar Center sales representative or your preferred Guitar Center retail location. Thank you for choosing Guitar Center!" Which suggests to me that they don't have a clue what they're talking about. I am 99% sure that an automated ETA was added to the item without any human input, and the representative who emailed me doesn't have an effing clue about what's going on with Sonar. It's just sloppy stock management and typical of Guitar Center. I replied asking for clarification, but I'm not holding out for any coherent answer.
