Run the C3 update first, then the Theme Editor Download will be there...

You know I got this thing (and apparently fixed my CCC problem by installing the latest version) but it's standalone and wants me to select an image editor. So...what do I need to use it?

I'm ready to mangle the pea-diddle out of my Sonar GUI but, as per usual, haven't a clue as to how.

On the SONAR forum Craig said he's using GIMP...  which I've never tried, but plan to since it looks simple enough.  I already have Paint.NET so I've been trying it with that.   You use the Theme Editor's wizard to link it to an image editor for changing those UI parts that are actual image files, and for the others you can just their color inside of the Theme Editor.

GIMP is interacting flawlessly with Theme Editor for me.

For those that aren't familiar with The GIMP, it was created as an open source Adobe work-alike years ago.  GIMP is a fully featured, incredibly capable tool.

If you're use to working in Photoshop, expect a lot of swearing at GIMP. ;)
I still can't get use to that interface.

Ditto that....I can't see me getting too jiggy with this, there are people here way more qualified that are willing to share. Lord Tim offered up one in the Sonar forum theme thread:http://forum.cakewalk.com/Theme-Editor-is-Live-in-the-Command-Center-m3450398-p3.aspx#3451714

It's weird that it makes you point to an editor when you install. We can just change colours etc without needing an editor. I just grabbed paint.net, as that's what they suggested in the manual (and the screen where you point theme editor to a graphics editor). I used it to change the colour of an icon, but that's about it ;-)

Other than that, I'm just building a dark Tungsten like theme with the blue buttons from Mercury.

I'm hoping they add a repository to the site for users to do that. For now, it might be we have to have a thread on the forums and use dropbox.

The theme editor is still in early release. The theme editor help file has a section on where the theme files are located.

The theme editor manages colors and images. There is a color picker built into the theme editor to set things like background and text colors. Images, for example buttons, require a 3rd party image editor.

I went with paint.net...looks good.  But when I try to point to it using the browse button in the Theme Editor setup inside SPLAT it doesn't recognize the path.  Plus when I try to type in the name (or anything) in the editor box nothing appears...typing is not recognized either??  WTF??

Theme editor v1.0.0.25? The version is in the bottom right of the UI.
I set up the image editor running the theme editor stand alone. I did have problems with the early release version resolving the help link when running in SONAR. The latest version fix that.
