Sonar X1 and silence

Hey all--

I know I have come to the forum and found this answer before...but I cant seem to find the keywords which pulls up the answer.  I run sonar X1 with a line 6 ux2 sound card.  When I hit the record button, there is a loud glitching and nothing sounds anymore--midi or audio files.  I remember once before I solved it by deleting files in a directory...but I can't remember what the fix was.

I have had this problem before as well. Usually i just restarted my sonar and sometimes even my whole computer to get the sound to start again. I've had the issue before with a couple corrupt effects as well that i had to reinstall.

All i can really say is update your soudncard drivers although im sure you've thought of that. Try restarting your computer, maybe delete the past couple plugins you used.

Hmmm.  None of these work.  As soon as I arm the track to record, the sound still cuts out after one or two loud glitches.  I distinctly remember having this problem before.  I remember a post in this forum which said that you need to delete all the files in a certain folder, as the program is limited to the amount of storage it can have in this folder.

It sounds like you are describing the picture cache. It won't hurt to clear the folder. The folder location is in Preferences > File > Audio Data "Picture Folder"

The picture cache is a folder that contains image representations of the audio wave forms for your projects.

If it gets big, or goofed up, you can completely empty its contents, and Sonar will rebuild anything it needs.  Many folks do this maintenance once in a while, particularly when the Now Time starts getting jumpy or displays behind the sound you are hearing from the project.
