Looks alot like Studio One.  I almost bought Studio One and I'm glad I waited.  Cakewalk will get my money.

99 EUR upgrade price from Sonar 8.5. Not bad, but I would like to see more videos on workflow improvements, automation.

    Best Regards,

Really nice Cakewalk...nice way to make my investment in UAD plugins pretty much obsolete.

...Just kidding...can't wait until Dec 8th!

You've obviously had very good reason to be so quiet the last few months...

    Congratulations,

I'm looking forward to it.  Although I'm a bit disappointed that there seems to be no notation enhancement.

I just caught that on my second (frame-by-frame)  pass thru the videos. The multi-dock seems really nice...so is the dropping effects directly onto clips. Did I also see the demoer drop one CWP file into an already open one?

meh, REX files are kinda moot for me. I don't use Beatscape and slicing and re-sequencing loops is pretty trivial with all the non-rex tools out there.

Tell us about Matrix improvements! That is, after all, pretty much your baby.

Robin, will there be a way to keep plugin windows from getting lost behind the Multi-dock if its placed on a separate monitor? I currently have the Console view on my second monitor and this limitation drives me crazy. Please tell me that Cakewalk has added a way to make other windows behave like the default Track view does when it comes to plugin windows.

It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to add code that says when a window is maximized to full screen to not allow any other non-maximized windows to go beneath it.

    Regarding Drag and Drop...

    You can drag and drop
    • Effects (MIDI and Audio) to clips and tracks
    • FX Chains to clips and tracks
    • Track templates to the Track view
    • Project templates to the Track view
    • Projects to the Track view including adding a project to an existing project
    • mid files to tracks and the Matrix
    • Step Sequencer Patterns to the Step Sequencer or Track View
    • Audio files to tracks and the Matrix
    • Soft Synths to the Track view (very quick way to patch a synth)

Just from this new behavior your work flow speeds up significantly. Also when the browser is on the media tab there is a search function.

There will be more info coming in the next few weeks.

    Robin

    Hey Robin!

Do we still get the Synth Property page when dragging Softsynths into the TV?  Can we choose a default, i.e. Simple Instrument tracks to be automatically created when dragging a synth?

    Thanks!

The answer is yes! If you have the "Don't ask me again" option selected the synths will just drop in and follow the default configuration you have set.

I like the new UI, but... I have Cubase and Sonar PE and I'm only using Cubase for these reasons :

    - No free routing (I would like, at least, the ability to route a bus output to an audio track input)
    - No equivalent of Cubase 'Musical/linear timebase switch' : the 'Fit to time/improvisation' is horrible to use...
    - No MIDI input transformer
    - The score implementation in Sonar is a joke compared to Cubase one

I don't see a lot of changes in this new version concerning these (excepting the free routing, it seems). So, sadly, I'll probably won't upgrade and won't install Sonar on my new DAW, only Dimension Pro as it is. Really think I made a mistake last spring, buying Sonar. I was expecting better, TBH...

Can you not use PayPal in the Netherlands?  I use it for all my euro and $ transactions.

I like the new UI, but... I have Cubase and Sonar PE and I'm only using Cubase for these reasons :

    - No free routing (I would like, at least, the ability to route a bus output to an audio track input)
I'm using Ableton Live fore this feature and have been waiting ages to see it implemented in Sonar. I would settle for just being able to route the output from one virtual instrument track to an audio track to record it's outout. So, are we finally gonna get this feature?

Can't you just bounce the track? Or am I missing something?
