Sonar is not properly installed..... AGAIN?
Now I'm getting this crap again. I reinstalled the X1c patch to no avail, tried going to C:\Progdata and also tried to Run As Administrator. I'm glad I don't run a pro studio and a client just walked in. WTF!

You run a registy cleaner? I got that error on Sonar 4 after running a registy cleaner. Since then no longer trusted registry cleaners.

Maybe you should stop using your onboard soundcard or that Delta garbage and get a pro interface! ( just kidding Dave...I couldn't resist)

I've purchased every version of Sonar I have. I'm sure I'll fix it myself. Yes, I ran a registry cleaner. I guess it was too much for Sonar.

daveny5 I've purchased every version of Sonar I have, so go F yourselves. I'm sure I'll fix it myself. Yes, I ran a registry cleaner. I guess it was too much for Sonar. Just goes to show that X1 was not ready for primetime. My next upgrade will be for ProTools and I'll pay for that too. Yes but you've often unfoundedly called others pirates who have also purchased every version they have, including me. So how does it feel? To answer the original question, if you have used a registry cleaner then undoing your last clean should make everything golden again. CCleaner's Registry clean is safe to use with Sonar, I've been using it for several years without issue.

Lot's of luck with Pro Tools. I tried to switch at the beginning of September after deciding that X1 was too different so I might as well give PT a try again. BIG MISTAKE!!! The bugs I've found in Sonar 8.5.3 don't crash the program on me. Pro Tools 9 on the other hand is worse than a beta. It took me a month and a half to get it even slightly reliable and by that time, I had gone past 30 days and could no longer return the product. After 45 days, Avid came out with a new version and wanted $300 for the upgrade after I had just spent $250 for the PT9 update. Avid are a bunch of @$$holes and still don't have a true 64bit edition, fast bounce, track freezing and a slew of other features I've taken for granted within Sonar. I, too, wanted to bail on Sonar for the sole reason that it doesn't support true sidechaining like RTAS (and thus Pro Tools). That's the fault of VST 2.x I know but X1 doesn't support VST 3 so I wanted to switch. My project studio and my own personal creativity have gone down the tubes since trying to make PT9 work so I can't even imagine all the new bugs in PT10 since they have switched their plugin format from RTAS to AAX. They should have simply gone with VST3 but then they'd have to admit that RTAS is primative at best. RTAS is the reason you can't do a fast bounce in PT. Wonder if they'll fix that when PT11 comes out without support for RTAS. If you have Sonar 8.5.3, just go back to that. I'm not going to upgrade my Sonar until they support VST3. Hopefully with Sonar X2 whenever that comes out. Just felt the need to warn you against Pro Tools!!! Their upgrades are TOO expensive now, come out way too soon and are pretty unstable unless you're willing to tweak the settings for a month or two until you find something it likes. BTW, how is X1 not installed correctly? Was/is there an error message? What is or isn't happening that shoud or shouldn't? Also, how did you install it - did you overwrite an earlier version via upgrade or was it a fresh install? I for one, would hate to see you get burned by Avid like I did. Give us a little more info and I'm sure someone here can help!!!

in fairness 8.5 didn't have a box. it was download only. but it was still funny. I guess dave's registry cleaner decided something about sonar's registry wasn't being used. but I've not even seen this problem on the forum before now (re: AGAIN).
