Sonar is notating triplet notes as 16ths and 8ths - help!

MIDI notation issues. Just what it says. In a piece in 4/4 time with 960 ppqn, notes hitting 000 and 640 are being notated as the first beat and then a 16th note (which is really at 720 - not 640).

Thoughts?

Did you check "triplets" in Step Record? (Assuming you are using Step Record). Also, if using Step Record, did you specify eighth notes? In 4/4 time, eighth-note-triplets would be: three eighth notes in the space of two. Similarly, you could have three sixteenth notes in the space of two. Hope I'm not insulting your intelligence here.

    I'm not using step record.
Part of the issue may be that it is two notes in a triplet pattern - but not a triplet.

Yep - I think that's it: Sonar recognizes two notes in a triplet rhythm as being at 000 and 720 - even when the second note is at 640.

Oh, yeah, Sonar is famous for not notating that situation correctly. You can't have one of the triplets be a rest. This is the main issue folks have been complaining about for years regarding the notation view.
Or, could you be using an unusual rhythmic grouping, like a dotted eighth and a sixteenth?

Triplets and the related issue of swing time are my main Staff View complaints.

I can use the staff view out as a working copy even though doesn't look as good as a dedicated notation program's output; but notating rhythm incorrectly is kind of a problem.
