burgerproduction Name changes can kill a product. I remember when Cool Edit became Adobe Audition. Who uses Audition? Anyone?
I use it from time to time if I have any very finely grained audio processing/editing to do, or to do stuff like remove noise from a track. I know a few people who work with video who use Audition a lot for audio too. It's a great program.

Having searched and come up with nothing - how do BandLab make money exactly?? I can't see their business model. Am I missing something? Or is it the 'land-grab' model of gaining zillions of users and then somehow bolting on adverts and premium user features? Perhaps they will charge for Sonar under a name such as BandLabPro; dunno. As long as it means I still have old-fashioned desktop Sonar I'm relaxed about it all. (I certainly can't understand how I could make any significant music poking around on an iPhone app.)

I do, as an audio editor, not as a DAW. How about more modern dances for a name instead of cakewalk? Jive? Lambada? 8-)

Let's face it, how many people make any significant music off of desktop DAWs? The pro market will always favour desktop DAWs, but the pro market is the niche market - it's the iphone market which is where all the money is.

I have Audition installed on my machine. But if I'm not using SONAR for audio, I generally use Audacity for the simple stuff.

Unless BandLab also buys TASCAM (which could happen, given the amount of money Gibson needs to refinance) that leaves it still in the Gibson "Family"

The idea for creative processes is to get away from being so serious and allow yourself to explore the crazy. Once you let go of trying to find a "serious" name for a product and start exploring the fun you can start finding something that will fit the serious role while still being fun. So even if we don't end up at "Bandlab Advanced Digital Audio Software Suite" we can at least jump off from that crazy spot and find other crazy spots until one of the crazy spots is also a good spot. Don't judge the idea. Let it spark other ideas. That's how to really brainstorm for a new name.
