For the product stability Sonar has to stay.

As far as I know Pro Tools wasn't owned by Avid just a decade ago.

I had to check to verify that Cubase is Steinberg

The Cakewalk is another matter. It all depends if they bought the copywrite for
the name or not.

I guess we'll know soon enough.

My Favorite Cakewalk name  is "Home Studio"  as it sort of covers a lot of what the market for this DAW is. Not only that it abbreviates nicely to HS.  
 
Leave Tools for the so called Pros. 
 we don't want them to call it Home Tools or Beginner Tools now do we :)
