I get a bigger thrill when someone stumbles over one of my tunes three years after it left the top 50. I got bored by the charts after several emails to the moderators expressing my dismay with people posting songs in the wrong genres to game higher chart positions. I never got a single acknowledgement.

Hey Songcraft...I'm currently using AT&T's webhosting service and I've been extremely pleased with their bandwidth. No problems for people downloading from my site and all that. But I'm ready to jump ship for other reasons. Is Go-Daddy just as reliable? I mean, can I count on their bandwidth throughput to deliver for folks downloading from my site? I just remember, and this was a few years ago, that when downloading music from personal sites they would be kind of hit or miss - some would just take forever to load and could not even begin to stream, while others were lightening fast and couldn't stream too quickly for them. I stuck with the sites that were fast and dumped those that were slow pokes. I've already got the odds against me just trying to make music people want to hear, let alone running them off because my webhosting service is too slow. What do you think?

Just think of the claim to fame to be able to say you are #1 on soundclick (I've come close in a sub group). Think of the deals from majors pouring in, the celebrity, the groupies (ug, that gives me shudders thinking about a soundclick groupie). The CHB hit #1 in our sub-genre and what we got was... What was it we got guys? Oh yeah, Nuthin!

I've been using Go-Daddy for at least three years running two separate forum softwares, music and more and never had any issues with the deluxe plan. You can compare the plans here. For MP3 I don't plan on publishing overly-large files yet no lower than 128. Because you want the audio to play back smoothly (no stuttering), I think 192.kbps is OK, but I think no more than 256Kbps.

Man we are smoking hot but I'm not gonna let my second Soundclick No1 appearance go to my head, this has just raised to bar for me and I'm gonna have to re-commit to my quest for quality to stay at the top. I'm still humble enough to get stage fright though when I click to submit that upload... Mind you I've always had more humility than most. Honest...really.

I just did a Google search and look what I found... here it the original image: That image was used for Tolgar's avatar, a free download from www.freevectors.net Whereas I painstakingly created my own from several photos of people I know and then added the silhouette effect using photoshop Bitflipper, after searching thru hundreds of files on my hard drive I found a couple of the originals then down-sized (compressed to smaller files) to upload here to show you just how difficult it was for me to edit n removed the background from the images and then add the silhouette effect. 2 original example photos: That's my bother inlaw Joe on drums and his bother off to the side is Jeff on bass. Paul (cousin) and Matt (friend) on lead guitar. Paul isn't actually in the band, he was there joining in for a jam session. - Bitflipper, I did feel discredited when I should be credited for my 'own' creative work.

No, what will happen is eventually either SongCraft or Torgar will change their avatar, and future readers of this thread will have no idea what we're even talking about. If I could think of a clever Mr. Potatohead crack, I'd insert that here just to confound future readers even more.

It seems to me that an easier and more fair way to deal with the obvious cheats is to just delete their accounts. Or, maybe even impose some kind of limit on how long a song can stay in the top 10. This isn't Billboard we're talking about here...

dunno if any of you use other sites http://virb.com might be worth checking out.. the problem with all of em.. well they aren't charities.. and as much as they had pluggers going around buying singles back in the day to influence chart positions people are trying the same ish now... it's been going on donkey years.. so called "independent labels" not being so independent.. bands like oasis were "supposidly" signed to an independent creative records, but at the same time Noel signed a publishing deal with sony.. go figure ;-) thats just the tip of the iceberg, and well Murdoch owns myspace since tom sold out.. a friend noticed when he was getting a LOT of hits, they REALLY slowed down the connections to his song.. while obv. major artists didn't have that issue.. coincidence , I think not.. all that'll happen is yet another site will appear, but if it's down to people abusing/rigging the soundclick charts ,they should employ a better system.

I may add a music page to it, and soon y'all could be listening to me sing and checking out my pots all at the same time! :) You can do it Mamabear. I'd make one for you, but right now, I'm too busy doing sites for a coupla other people... and they're paying! :)

Julianna, I listened to one of your songs on reverbnation and then on soundclick. What a difference! The reverbnation player sounded absolutely dreadful, with such annoying artifacts I couldn't listen for long. I'd always thought SoundClick quality was poor, but it's still better than ReverbNation or MySpace. I'll miss SoundClick.

I find it hard to believe soundclick cares so much about their so called charts. I guess they are thinking of their "reputation" but everyone who is familiar with these types of sites knows the charts are fiddled- and those who want to do so will find a way. Robert Anthony

soundclick doesn't care about their charts - it is a come on to those like Bapu who think they'll get all the chicks when they can reach #1 ;-) Obviously some guys take it seriously, so it must work for Soundclick. But I can't see the upside of working the SC charts. It is nice to be in the top ten anything (well, not tax rate), but it ain't something you can take to the bank. @

ORIGINAL: chefmike8888 LMAO Wow, do people really set their drums up like that? I always thought that was just for TV, like "The Monkeys" or "The Partridge Family." Mike LOL!! Mike, if only you knew their style of music! It's 'Heavy Punk Rock' with a lot of 'F' words and such! They're raw and rocking loud and love to play live, absolute nothing like a TV-studio produced act such as the Monkee's or Partridge family. My young nephew is the same, into Heavy Punk Rock. Their main purpose is 'to have fun' performing 'live' no midi, no backing tracks, and definitely no vocal lip-sync LOL!! They remind me of when I was very young playing heavy rock 'live' (5 piece band) in the late 70's, those were fun times.
