Same here Steve I know you're right down the road somewhere close.Maybe I'll try and get some time in the studio before the power goes. Ditto. May as well spend a little time while we can! Are you in Christiana Delaware or Pennsylvania? South Jersey here...darned thing is coming right for me. At least you guys won't be reading my novels for a while as we'll probably lose power for a week. Best of luck to any of you that will be experiencing the effects of this storm. Try to stay safe. Best of luck, Danny - Jersey and Delaware seem to be at the front of the line. I have a brother in Salem, right on the Delaware, so I'm sure they're in for a rough few days. You can only do so much under the circumstances...

Thanks Beeps...yeah, been pretty busy. God knows what I'm gonna have to deal with after this...uggh! I'll do my best, thanks. Steve: thanks...yeah, looking at that storm, it literally comes in right where my new studio is in Mays Landing near AC and then follows a course right to my house. The only cool thing about this is....if by chance we make it through this monster, I might be able to see the eye pass over me which I hear is an incredible sight to see. I just hope I have a house left and I've gone outside to look at it instead of looking up through a hole in my roof. Prayers for your brother and you...I hope we all make it through this thing. I keep praying it falls apart and just drifts out to sea. Wishful thinking.. -Danny

hmm... It's really gonna be that bad? I'd put anything crucial or expensive under whatever sturdy tables you have around and maybe cover them with a tarp. That way if anything does collapse stuff can be dug out and salvaged. But that's like worst case shiz. I have a feeling evryone's gonna be okay though. And I'm sure most folks know this but if things start looking sketchy unplug all your gear. Cheers.

Beeps: yeah, it's gonna be bad. Unless of course it's all hype and a way to make the economy look better since we all went out and spent millions on food, water, generators etc. I actually started thinking "maybe this whole thing is a hoax" LOL! There is always that possibility that it might not turn into us...but it ain't lookin' good. Doug: thanks....I'm about 50 miles or so outside of AC. My other studio in Mays Landing though....man...it's in Gods hands. Good luck to you also bro. -Danny

Well I just stuck my head out of the window after a couple of hours of being immersed in my cans, and the winds are definitely picking up! The trees are thrashing about and everyone looks in a hurry to get home. I think it's time I went for my pre-hurricane walk...I love weather like this.

Apparently the hurricane itself is... not small... but not particularly big. It's the surrounding storm that is huge. However the path it is taking is going through places that ain't used to this crap. If you're in the path of the actual hurricane definitely take care of stuff. Outside of that it'll just be a nasty storm. I just got a feeling in my gut all my Cakester buddies are gonna be fine. And yeah... the media has cried wolf so many times just for ratings you never know when these things are the real deal anymore. I'd imagine the emergency broadcast systems would kick in if crap was gonna get real crazy. Best of luck, all.

One thing I've noticed about this storm as opposed to last year's Hurricane Irene, is that even though New Yorkers are doing their usual panic buying (I witnessed some ridiculous scenes this afternoon), they're not taping their windows up like last year. For Irene, virtually everyone had blue tape crosses in their windows. This year, I haven't seen one single taped up window.

It's a complete waste of money and time. Taping your windows does nothing to stop windows from breaking.

Nassau Count Long Island here. From the NOAA data, doesn't look bad around my neck of the woods. But good thing we decided to remove a Ceder pine from next to the house. It was leaning even before Irene. After, it leaned a bit more. I'm not the type to like chopping down a perfectly good tree, but when its a tree or me, too bad for the tree. :) Now if only my neighbor thought the same. Hes got a beach tree growing right into the power and phone lines..... If that goes, the whole block's power and telephone is going down with it. :/

We had remnants of one come through Maryland back in 2003, and I still remember winds sustained of over 50 mph, with gusts up to around 70. I went outside with my son, because it was such a surreal event, and he was about 8 years old at the time. I had to hold his hand because the wind would literally lift his body off the ground - it was SOOOOO cool. The next day, I drove down into DC for a basketball tournament, and saw a BUNCH of really huge trees knocked over by the wind and saturated ground. That was quite sad. I was married twice, so I know what having no power for long periods of time feels like. Good luck everybody - hope everyone's gear stays dry, and nobody loses anyone in the process. Bob Bone

East Ohio here. We're expecting 4" to 5" of rain and winds 35 to 70 mph and the obligatory power outage. Last time we had something like this was when hurricane Ivan, then a week later, Francis, stopped over our area and caused a catastophe as it wrung out it's water over us. We spent the rest of the year repairing roads and infrastructure. Got four 5-gallon cans of gasoline and the generator on standby...probably get water in the basement as well with a storm this big...

Hoping for the best outcome for you guys. We have cyclones in Oz(basically the same thing), and just a couple of years ago had one headed straight towards us, then at the last minute, it stopped dead in it's tracks, and took off back out to sea. Nothing like a cyclone/hurricane to build the anxiety inside you. Mother Nature at it's best and worst at the same time. Take care all of you. Ad

Yes, they told us here in Florida that taping windows won't do any good. I just checked with my brother in central Pa (Grantham) and all they are getting at the moment is some light rain. He told me they went out for Breakfast Sunday morning and then stopped at a Weis Market (supermarket) and the shelves were bare.

I just saw some idiot construction crew in Nry York failed to secure their crane at the top of a 65-story building. The thing is now basically hanging upside down waiting to fall on some folks down below. I am just North of DC, the storm is still 200 miles out - not much yet . Some pretty hefty gusts and a steady light rain. This will all change in the next couple of hours through tomorrow mid-morning. So I am just hanging out, working on a midi recreation of a Bill Bruford tune - Fainting in Coils. It's a bit of a project, as all of the players are world-class. Drums and bass are done, keys about halfway, then I have that pesky Allan Holdsworth track to play on my keyboard. DOH! :) Bob Bone

Hey, Bob... if there aren't crews on site dealing with that crane you should probably call the authorities. That could be very very bad.
