I was thinking more along the lines of "musical" instruments.

I can't think of any other than guitars..

They used to make left handed Trumpets. Not sure if they still offer them.

Technically a drum kit is amibidextrous,  you arrange the same pieces to suit left or right handed..

The big question is

are there left handed drum sticks?

When I started learning to play I used to use a right-handed kit layout and after about two years I decided that it was kind of wrong leading off with the weaker hand so to speak.

So after that time I re-learned the whole thing with the kit arranged left-handedly.

It didn't make me sound unique, it just confirms that I've always been a bit weird.

So did you sell your kit and buy a left handed one instead?

No I kept it both...

It did used to impress some of my right-handed students and some fellow drummers that I'd come and demonstrate something on their righty kit and then go back to my left-handed setup and fire away without flinching.

Drummers seem to be impressed with that kind of thing whereas 'normal' people probably wouldn't even notice.

I'm learning to play a right-handed guitar though.

Partly because you can't seem to find decent cheap lefties and partly using my stronger hand on the fingerboard seems the right way round for me.

Given my history though I might change to a leftie in a couple of years.

I've been working on a friend's kid's Epiphone Bass. He needed it converted to lefty.

Man o man, it has taught me to appreciate how frustrating it must be for a lefty to hold a righty's guitar.

I can do the work but I can't play it competently enough to really test it out.

best regards,
mke

I am curious... how is it that Ringo Star ... the worst drummer every to reach mainstream success ... reached mainstream success? He must have had a file of "dirty laundry" on the other three, and like J. Edgar, kept his position out of fear.

I have photo's of 2 of Paul Mcartney's vintage Les Pauls. Both are left handed, but strangely enough Gibson didn't see the need to accomidate lefties 100%. On the headstock of both guitars, the decals that say Les Paul Model are right handed and appear upside down.

I've seen Phil Collins drum kit a couple times and it is 100% lefty. All the concert toms start with a little 8" on the far right. When Phil does a fill he moves right to left.

I think instrument makers treat lefties as grudgingly accomodated.
