Bob Oister Wow! My first day back on the forum in a few months and here's a dynamite new instrumental from my old buddies, Bapsi and James (and Ron?)! Fantastic work, guys, I love all of the interesting twists and turns in this one, although the complete stop at around the 4 minute mark made me think it was over until the surprise ending kicked in. James guitar work and tone is super as usual. Ed's tasty bass and keys sound great with Ron's drums, and the current mix sounds warm, full and nicely balanced. Super stuff, guys, it's really great to hear that the forum is still kicking out high quality original music! Have a great weekend! Bob
Hey Bob, thanks for the thoughtful reply. Ron was the drummer I played with for about 5 years in a sequential string of three bands. You'll be hearing more from him on these "JamPu" jam joints.

Hey Fellas , Yes I like this tune & collab There is some very energetic playing going on with all the instruments and parts. Listened on headphones & I enjoyed what I heard ...no mix crits right now ... I like when James lets loose Baps sounds good , and I did like and enjoy the sound of the drums .. Sure hope you guys get together some more to do a bunch more music along these lines . all the best, Kenny

Finally got around to listening to Summer Rain... I was watching the comments and felt it was better for me to wait until a "finished" mix was up as I would not have been able to bring anything to the party on that score anyways. Great tune, as I pretty much expected... Nice and heavy in places... Loved the last section Mix sounded good to my ears on my Tannoy Reveals... Going back for a second listen cheers andy

This would have been a hit back in the days of "Telstar" and The Ventures. It's very melodic and well arranged, and I didn't want it to end. How many more tricks do you have up your sleeves?

Nice tune. I have to agree with a lot of the postings here regarding balance. However, the drum tone sounds great here. Come on Ed! You're playing that 4003 great! Let's hear it with a little more punch! I think your tone on it is very classic. I like it!

I have an old drummer mate I've always enjoyed working with too whenever I could. He was just 19 when he first started working with me during the early 80's. There's nothing like real drums. They sound good to me, and the tune was interesting.

geeare1 Great tune, guys! A live drummer makes a huge difference (especially when they're good!). Always a pleasure to hear James stretching out on guitar and Ed is solid as ever on bass as well as piano. Well done with the false ending, too! Didn't see that coming, ha!
Thanks G.

Nice tune played and recorded well. Yup, rock it is indeed. Mix seems to work fine as well. The cymbals are truthfully not doing it for me - china splashes and sleigh bells - but there you have it, we all like different things, don't we? For me, I think there is a piano plinking along in the undergrowth/underbelly somewhere - is it mixed waaaaay down? If so, I'd get that out of there completely. It's plenty melodic as it is with the guitars doing the noodlefest, and less melodic distraction would be less background chatter so the guitars could shine even more. (Said the piano player) Maybe in this tune, some power chords, some death metal bone-rattling fillings-disintegrating power chords. Do you have a beastly helltone in your presets? Perhaps cue Batsbrew or Bob O. or some such. Just a thought. Or maybe this isn't trying to be that kind of heavy rock. Or maybe I've watched Spinal Tap too many times. cheers, -Tom

Freddy J I think that I didn't hear the first rendition of this number but I do think that y'all did a great job on this. The song has a lot of great playing, energy, and I love that change around the 4:14 mark. Nice one lads!
Thanks Freddy.

Great tune, retro but not really. I'm hearing a few influences in there, but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on them. Either way, I found that the main riff stays with me. Mix-wise I thought it was good overall, but as others noted perhaps a little thin in the middle. You know all about that, right?
