The alternate link sounds better than the Soundcloud link which sounds muddy in comparison?  Yes I listened to both.

All I can say is it is different.  Thanks for sharing your collective talents.

Ya know, I didn't listen to it all the way through last time because my connection is so slow. Yeah, that's what I'm goin' with. My connection was too slow.

Anyhoo ... I just listened to it all the way through, and now I get it ... FBB was trying to showcase just how untalented he really is! I totally get it now guys!

I keed I keed.

Seriously though ... I actually liked it a LOT after listening to it all the way through and hearing that it was an intentional spoof. When I originally listened to it, I thought you guys were being serious.

My apologies for not listening to it all the way through originally.

There I said it, for all the speechless ones among us.
LMAO!!!!

You could say it needs this, or it needs that but that would require an admission that you had some idea of what was occuring here in the first place.

The whole track was so tight and you gave it a sleezy sexy feel,
That was one of the goals...

Oh I liked it alright...but then I like Eugene Chadborne playing an oversized bra stretched across an electric rake through a distortion pedal.  So I wouldn't take any criticism of mine too seriously.

Actually this was the template for the song.

Now I won't give any mix advice unless you ask for it but whilst the bottom end of the track was excellent there was not enough top end, it just wasn't bright enough.

Zo

Bapu to much muddinest , voice fighting with bass ..roll of voice bass , add some presence , cut some 300/500hz from one or another !! (bass or voice)

also rool off bass for all unwanted (in that freq) instruments ...

So one says the bottom end was excellent and another says its too muddy. But both agree on needing presence/brighter top end.

I'll see what I can do about that.

Well, that was exactly the point. As I said above (in post #10), I personally see no point in making an exact replica/cover of a song. For me covers are all about having fun with tweaking them to almost "WTF?".

Thanks for stopping by Wookiee.

I'll see what I can do about that.

Let me clarify my statement, Bapu.  There is a lot of mud on the track, and the frequancy of "mud" lol is around the 400hz mark, so Zo has given some tips on how to mix the bottom end and I would follow them yes I like the bottm end but I understand also that you may have to pull the mix apart to get back to that point.

For instance, I'd have to listen to the track again (I am struggling with download speeds, so I can't) are you using real drums or a drum machine, I just can't remember??

Do you understand the roll off technique that Zo has suggested, so using a hi shelf filter to roll off at 80hz by about 3db all the instruments apart from the kick.

Then buss the kick, bass, snare and toms, then compress.

Do you understand the technique of parallel compression??

For this track I would parallel compress the drums, just in case you don't you prepare a 2nd mix buss of the drums and one drum buss you do the whole Bonham thing around 8:1 ratio and the 2nd maybe 2:1 or 3:1.  Then combine the two, this will give you back your bottom end and clear away the mud.

Look if you want anymore tips I'd be happy to help out, I really like this track and it deserves to be mixed well.  I don't offer to help very often but when I hear a special track, I'm always willing to help.

Just ask and I will be happy to help Bapu.

Peace Ben

Hey, Guys,

Hey, Ed, Karl and Dave,

Unique, different and very entertaining, Guys!  I didn't hear the first mix, but the one on studioqoqol sounds really good to me.  It sounds like you guys had lots of fun putting it together, and the performances were great.  I really like the witty banter at the end.

Hey Ed, I'm not quite sure where I heard it, but someone told me there's a rumor that you have an Alembic bass, could it possibly be true? Naw, no way.

Nice work, guys, lots of fun!

@ Ben - thanks for the input

@ Mooch - thanks. I think

@ Bob - The witty banter was only mildly 'scripted' but each was left to say it their way. I just assembled it all.

@ Daryl - I C what you did. The jury is out as to it's unfunnyness.

@ jamesg1213 - yes, but a serious larf 'twas

The ending was h.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s (and completely unfunny).  I agree, FBB has a great accent (and some fine guitar chops).

I think you should set Bapu's Everlasting forum thread to some Pink Floyd or something.... ;)

Nice remake on this, minus a couple of lyrics, but the instrumentation and singing were very well done. Also a nice production overall. Enjoyed. Blessings, John
