Sway - Mrs Daryl and me

Here's a cover of the Rosemary Clooney classic with a bit of help from technology and imagination.
Let me know what you think

Another stellar effort from the two of you.  The song reminds a little of the late Kirsty MacColl--Sway sounds like it would fit nicely on her Tropical Brainstorm album.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

Nice job on this Daryl and the Mrs.......Keep in mind no one else is probably going hear the same things...and you asked for comments on the mix. I think we all might have slightly different perceptions and coupled with different systems the mix will sound different.....the only nit I could find...and on a scale of 1-10 this would be a 00.50..something about the vox on my system, it's 99.5% there but I'm not sure if it's a send or what that seems to have the vox not feeling glued completely  IOW like she sung it with the band....know what I mean? Don't hit me Daryl. It was tough to find anything to say about it really. All in all it is fantastic!

Wow - It's really great.  Re. starise's comment.  IMO almost everything could benefit from a professional mastering, but that's about it, IMO.  You've got a great track.

    Peace,

And here I was going to cha-cha-cha instead of sway.
Loud on my unit, but sounded fine.

As usual and excellent musical production, however I agree that there is something about the vocal that makes it seem as though it was recorded in very different sounding space.  For me it almost sounds like you made her sing through a high quality megaphone.

Agree with other comments regarding the voice - doesn't sound like it was recorded in the same space. Great voice though.

Liked the mix apart from that - good separation and all the little bits and pieces and changes in instrumentation were audible.

The effects you put on the vox in different parts of the song were way cool too.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Hey Daryl I love it!  I also agree with the vocal comments.  Maybe some different delay or ambience/volume adjustments?  The Mrs. did a great job!  A fun listen for sure.

Great latin feeling with the breaks, horns and percussion. I felt the percussion was a little bit too loud for my taste, but I guess you wanted it that way because all of your other covers are perfectly balanced. =) Another masterpiece and this cover I DID recognice! ;)

"Rosemary Clooney" Now there's a name you don't hear every day? She was magnificent as usual... And the backing was nicely done to make it sound more modern. I may have low-fi'ed every other "I can hear the sound" during that part. But that's production, and very subjective.

This was really cool.... I like it a lot.   I even like the vocal tone.  It's refreshing to hear someone nailing notes without a lot of vibrato.

Mix-wise, I do think the vocal track might be just a little too up-front for where the music seems to be "located" in 3D space.    But overall that's a minor point.

Cheers Wookie - I will hopefully get to fix the vocal very soon. I was borderline unhappy with it when I finished but the current Mrs was eager to get it on Soundcloud etc. She could give Bapu a run for his money on that front :)

Punchy! Reminds me of TACO from the 80's. (Did he ever do this?) Nice job! Some more attention to the EQ'ing on all tracks might make some elements stand out more. Voice is mixed in the right pocket though. Well done!
