Looks like it's hard coded to go for c:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\T-RackS 5 if you install anywhere else, it's going to be a no show.

I created a file junction from c:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\T-RackS 5 to the location I installed it to, seems to make it happy. Though the plugins don't seem to be able to find the help/manual when I click the question mark. May have to figure out what is up with that. Also need to remember to kill the junction before I install the next update. Interestingly enough it left all my version 4 plugins on the machine. Version 5 has no 32-bit so I guess that makes sense. But it means all my templates will have to be hand updated to the new version 5 plugins. And I don't see any simple way to move presets from version 4 to version 5. There isn't an obvious load button on v5 to bring in a preset even. While I understand the issue here, I think they should have done SOMETHING to import presets from version 4 to version 5. A tool or a one-time option on install even. The resize is very nice on my 4k monitor though. And the new UI does look much better even when smaller. The stand alone crashed while I was playing with it, I don't think I did anything special mostly just cycle through a bunch of presets. The audio engine selection has all the problems IK stand alone products have always had. Pretty much stick with Windows Audio or you can count on hangs or crashes. The wave editor UI is kind of weak. Had a bunch of trouble with setting up a loop region (like the beginning point ended up being before the wave file so the loop stopped looping or something). I don't think they thought it through very well. I really don't like how I can only see the waveform or the plugin chain but not both. Kind of makes it hard to use since I can't select other modules in the mastering chain without switching the waveform to the plugin chain. I really want to see all three, and I have the screen real estate to do it. All these problems might have solutions in the manual, too bad it can't launch it for me. Haven't really tested the audio part all that much yet. Still too much teething pain on the install and usage. That's my report -Unpaid test engineer #7337

I was hoping my T-Racks 4 modules would appear in this - no sign of them though. I don't have any presets showing either. UPDATE The modules appear in my account as separate downloads. That worked OK - maybe just a quirk of the new authorisation manager. Still no presets showing though.

The manual (which I still can't figure out how to get the app/plugin to launch) says 3.3.1 - Presets backward compatibility If you are upgrading from previous versions of T-RackS (or you have them still installed on your computer), it is possible to both read and load older T-RackS CS presets and they will work perfectly. However, the old user presets need to be copied manually from the T-RackS folder to the T-RackS 5 folder. In case that doesn't help you, it appears presets are saved in under your Windows Documents folder. So %USERPROFILE%\Documents\IK Multimedia\T-RackS CS The new version 5 presets are saved in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\IK Multimedia\T-RackS 5 (Windows will expand the %USERPROFILE% if you paste it into the Windows Explorer or you can do it yourself, for example my paths actually end up as C:\Users\matthews\Documents\IK Multimedia\T-RackS 5 ) I copied the presets from the correct sub-folder (Global vs Module) from the CS dir to the correct 5 dir. Seems to work. The version 4 module presets end in .tr4m the version 5 one's end in .tr5m. The global presets are .tr4p and .tr5p In theory you can find any presets in your old CS dir that isn't in the new 5 dir by matching up the file names and bringing those presets over. In reality that is a lot of work which some software company should have built some tool to help with.

Got everything up and running, installed to different drive than C: with no error, and so far so good. Really like the new GUIs; the cartoony vibe of the previous GUIs sort of bugged me a bit. In particular, I really like the revamped presets menu - much easier to navigate now that it responds to the scroll wheel on my mouse. The v4 plugs were sort of finicky, in that regard, as the navigation arrow was at the bottom, and the preset menu closed as soon as you made a selection. The v5 menus stay open after you select a preset, and you can cycle through them at your leisure. Makes it way easier to test them. That sounds like a small thing, but I find it to be a very nice little detail. The four new plugs all seem to work without any issues. I've only really messed around with One, but so far I like it. I ran the standalone app for a bit, and had no issues with it, although I didn't really explore or put it through any testing of note, so I can't comment on its stability or whatever. It did start up for me with no issues, though.

That's how it should be, so thanks to IK for that. Now, once they've got the upgrade at 50% off, I'll get it in the Custom Shop. Or maybe the Max upgrade if that one's not much higher in price. As it stands, I'm missing 9 plugins out of 38, including the four new ones, but also including less important ones like the Room and Inverse verbs. So my view, with 29 plugins already in my bag from those good old group buy days, I'll take the regular upgrade with the four new plugins for 75 gear credits, or the Max upgrade for 100 gear credits. Not paying more. I'm firm on that. For now.

Yep. They were all bad, although the older v4 plugs were worse than the newer v4 ones -- in particular, the canary yellow Classic series plug-ins were especially delightful, with the recessed rack ears and that deliberate color banding. The v5 ones all look great, and I find them a lot easier to read at a glance.

If you make the window taller, all 3 come into view together. Once all are in the view, you can resize each relative to the others. Pretty slick

Interesting. The balance between the windows is very crazy though. If I maximize the window I end up with this super giant version of the plugin but can only get a very small version of the waveform before it switches to just the chain. Most likely because my monitor is 4096x2160. Instead of having all three panes always be there it keeps wanting to switch to a dual mode. This is the tallest I can make the waveform before it switches to just the chain when the window is fully maximized

I still can't figure out how to make the loop selection be the entire file either. I'd think there would be some sort of keyboard or menu item to loop the whole file. I also don't like how the Import Audio dialog doesn't remember the last directory. I did manage to get all my TR4 presets over. I used XYplorer's (awesome file manager I've been using for years) dup search feature and had it search for inverse name duplicates between the two preset dirs, that gave me the names of all the presets that were in my TR4 that weren't in TR5 and I copied them over. I think the standalone tool needs to be a bit more like a wave editor with selection controls and the ability to apply a chain to a selection/etc. But that's a lot of work.

I'm also using a 4K display ... There appears to be a bug when maximized. When maximized, resizing directly under the plug increases the plug size. If NOT maximized, resizing from the same place shrinks the pane below the plug allowing the chain to come into view - as long as the TR5 width is less than approx 75% of the display width. When I get all 3 in view then maximize the chain pane disappears and goes back to toggling between chain/clip. Dragging the window wider without maximizing also reverts to 2 pane display. It appears to be the 75% point on the total monitor width. To get 3 panes displayed, the height of the TR5 window needs to be approx 75% of the display height or higher, but can be changed somewhat smaller once the individual panes are resized. Me thinks they have some 4K support work to do. I haven't fiddled with looping yet ...

PS: when I scroll down the list of all programs in Win10 and click on the IK folder I see about eleventy jillion authorization managers listed. I can't find them in the C:Program Files\IK Multimedia folders. Is there a way to delete all but the latest ones or do I need to keep them all?? How's about it Peter??
