TT Dynamic Range Meter +Foobar
Someone posted about the TT Dynamic Range Meter earlier & it just so happens I got an email from them this morning regarding it as a feature in foobar.
The Range Meter plug-in and DR Offline Meter are both great although I've never used foobar myself, don't know much about it but thought I'd pass it along. http://www.dynamicrange.de/free-downloads

Just to clarify, what this means is that you can now meter your dynamic range in real time while listening.
Nope, doesn't appear to be so. It's still an offline scanner. It's just that now you can run it easily from inside Foobar2000. It's much faster than real-time, so that's a plus.

It's still an offline scanner. It's just that now you can run it easily from inside Foobar2000. It's much faster than real-time, so that's a plus. This is weird - it looks like every post I've made in the past 3 days has disappeared. Something to do with the forum being down, maybe. At least, I don't think I've pissed anyone off that bad over in Boston... Anyhow, yes in addition to the offline version there is also a VST version but it seems to be hard to find now. The offline version is great because you can scan a whole folder at once and get a summary report in a text file. But I use the VST version much more often, and it's included in my standard template as the last thing on the master.  Also check out Jaeroen Beebaart's EBU Loudness Meter. Here's an overview of the EBU R 128 standard, which is a loudness standard for broadcasting. Beware, though: it's a CPU-muncher if you try to insert it into multiple tracks. I tried that because it's said to be useful for volume matching and I wanted to see if I could match a multi-part vocal up - didn't work too well for that, though.

You can still find v1.0 online. The last free version they offered was 1.4 which I like as it has logging of folders as well as individual scans.

Version 1.4a here. There are also RTAS and AU versions now. Unfortunately, the newer versions are no longer offered free of charge. You now have to make a $30 "donation" to the Pleasurize Music Foundation to get them. So much for noble altruism.

Thanks for your sharing. The guys are all kind-hearted here. It's pretty nice. But the only pity is that the newer versions are no longer offered free of charge. We'd better look for other free trials of the professional SDKs dealing with it.

Yeh, I posted that link 2 years ago. Since then, I think the folks who distribute (and now charge for) the plugin have been doing their best to rid the internet of any links to the older free version. Try this one. BTW, after some initial enthusiasm for this meter, I've since stopped using the plugin version for mixing. SPAN does the job for me in that context. I used to use the offline version for comparing files prior to putting them into a CD compilation, but since I'm more interested in how they compare to one another than in absolute values, there are other tools that can do this just as conveniently (see Voxengo Leveler).
