Take Lanes and Soft Synths

Hi I've been experimenting with take lanes and am left a little confused. I've checked all settings i.e. sound on sound mode, store takes in single track etc. yet when I loop record using any soft synth the previous takes are not muted. If I change the mode to overwrite then the previous takes are muted OK. Is this not meant to happen with sound on sound mode? My confusion lies in the difference between the two modes and also that the documentation only mentions sound on sound mode when using take lanes. Also, when I edit the clips in the PRV all the notes from all the takes are present - is this normal? I did get round this by muting clips and using hide muted clips option, but should I have to do this? All videos and documentation seem to show only audio tracks in take lanes. Are they not designed for soft synth tracks too? Any enlightenment greatly appreciated. Cheers

for prv and take lanes see a thread and workaround here http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2669236

sound on sound does not mute prior takes, overwrite does... there is a BUG however that if you record a track then go to do additional takes the first time you do so, the original recording piece is not just muted, but also deleted... read this one http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2685876
