Splashtop page says it's not compatible with Windows 10. Too bad. That would be a very cost-effective solution for me.

abacab: that just might work! $286, that's do-able albeit at the high end of what I want to spend. The 10" version might just work with a universal tablet mount like this:

So I got a new Surface Dial and did some experiments this evening. Check out this video to see how usable it is with SONAR. Combined with the pen its really cool!

Wow, that was quick. Thanks.

So it doesn't work on a Surface Pro? You just saved me a thousand dollars. Still pretty cool, though. Even if just as a shuttle. I know you were given this device, but perhaps you might know where one might obtain one?

It does work with with the pro. Only the screen sensing doesn't work. And I heard that the pro might get a firmware update to support it sometime. Screen sensing is not that useful with a screen as small as the surface pro anyway - since the Dial is relatively big knob it would obscure the widget it was placed over.

Dial is available on the Microsoft store or at Best buy for 99 bucks.

Love the possibilities here. Surface Dial, Pen, Touch Screen.

It may take a while to figure out the best combination of mapped functions and input devices (and which hand to use), but I can see this greatly speeding up some functions.

I love the look of the on-screen dial usage that Microsoft demonstrated last year (but as you pointed out needs a offer screen to be usable that way):

I loved it, Noel! Great job!

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

You can use any joystick like device with Sonar. But without faders and encoders that is just a set of buttons. XY position is too inaccurate to use for smooth parameter modifications.
