Seems like there are some good suggestions here. Is the folder compressed? (blue text is typically an indicator). If so, right-click over the "Project Templates" folder and go into Properties. Click [Advanced] and then remove the check mark next to "Compress contents to save disk space". Click [OK], then [Apply], then [OK] to "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files". Afterwards, give it another test. I'd also make certain in Edit > Preferences > File - Folder Locations that your "Templates" path matches the actual location of the .cwt files. Other than that, if you're running Anti-Virus software, try temporarily disabling it. I've seen AV software do just about everything, and in some cases they'll block SONAR from reading files (including even your audio files). I'd definitely rule it out if the above tests fail.

Hi, Ryan - thanks for jumping into the thread. The poster actually allowed me to remote access his computer, and I can verify that the path in Preferences is correct, that the CWT extension is associated with Sonar, and that if I double-click on one of these templates that Sonar cannot see that it does open properly in Sonar. I do not recall seeing the Project Templates folder as compressed, either. I did see 2 associations for the CWT extension - one for X2 and one for X1. I have never seen this behavior before, and did not see anything inherently bizarre with what is set up and configured. Perhaps antivirus software is mucking things up, I did not check that, as I had promised not to disturb anything in my remote foray onto his computer. Bob Bone

I've been working extensively with templates over the past several days and have not encountered that issue. One thing I did find however is that the template (cwt) will not save the metering settings whereas the cwp file will. So I found that saving a template first as a cwp file and then saving that file as a template does the trick.

To all - the original poster allowed me access to remotely log on to his computer and look at a bunch of things. Indeed, almost every folder on his C: drive was compressed. I have him copy the templates from the compressed folder to a new uncompressed folder, point to the new folder in Preferences for Project Templates, and sure enough all the templates now show up. There were a number of other things I have made recommendations on for him to review and change on his system, but it appears that now Sonar and his Project Templates are indeed playing nicely together once again. Life is good, Bob Bone

Yup - twas Ryan who solved it - all I did was manage to see that he was correct, via the remote log on. To willowby - I do still have a few notes to send you per the remnant registry keys I saw, and more detail on some of those other points in that lengthy email I sent. I just have not had time, but will try to follow that up with you first thing in the morning. Bob Bone

Great stuff guys! Thanks for following up with everyone and letting us know you were able to get it sorted out. The disc cleanup tool has a bad habit of compressing things it thinks you don't care about to "make space". Personally I avoid that feature of it. I wonder if that was the cause of it all. What an amazing community who are willing to remote into strangers PCs to give a hand with SONAR troubleshooting. Much respect to Bob for digging in! :)
