tom1 How did we get from thanking Jim to Vietnam? John where were you stationed? Cu Chi, Tay Ninh? I was a grunt 1968 in the 25th Inf. and YoRoPal no way do I take offense at your humor. But I have noticed your humor does seem a lot funnier when I'm on my 'mood elevators'. Tay Ninh. But I was mostly at some fire base or out on patrol. Crook and Washington stand out. I was also air moble. But I was an 11c40 a Mortar man. 81s and 4.2. When I wasn't firing a mortar I was just another grunt. I didn't either take offense at his joke at first thinking if true he has every right to say anything he wishes about Viet Nam. If not he doesn't. I am involved here with our annual Veterans Parade. The group I am with puts it on each year. I proud to be a founding member of this group. I am also with the American Legion as a service officer. I would like to hear from you and what you recall. Tom, welcome home. If you need anything that I can do let me know.

. Thanks for all the great posts, blokes! You guys ROCK! Machine is screaming, Jim is the real deal... Dimension Pro is still not happy, but now that I have all the Komplete 7 synths, I may not worry about it. I can boot a DimPro synth and quickly freeze it - as a workaround, but perhaps I'll just bail on it for now. Everything else seems to be pretty happy - famous last. : ) .

John I did serve in Viet Nam as a grunt with the 25th div. I was also in the invasion of Cambodia. I do not like it when someone claims service when they never served. If Olpal was in Viet Nam I salute him. If he was simply making a joke then he is a true jerk. Well my lottery number (i'm sure you remember John) was 365...no joke. So, no I didn't serve. And you won't get any argument from me about me being a true jerk. In fact, I'm one of the truest. I lost two very dear friends in that war and have nothing but respect for those that did serve and apologies for the disgraceful way many were treated upon coming home. Sorry if my humour offends you...but then you're so easily offended I can't worry too much over that. Rock on, ol pal. And thanks for your service.

I am not easily offended except where it concerns some few issues. One being Viet Nam. I didn't think anything of your post except it was funny when I first read it. I took you at your word on being in county. It was Danny that ask about it and got me to thinking that perhaps it was not true. We have a lot of people we encounter that claim service when they never did serve. I am not sure why people do that except to gain some respect they never earned. Unfortunately there is no law prohibiting false claims of service as long as no money is exchanged. Then it becomes fraud. Your remarks were not earth shattering or a big deal to me. But it did leave a false impression about what you did or didn't do. If Danny had not asked it would have been left alone and you may have been thought to have served. I don't think that was ever your intention. Really I don't care much about people that make thoughtless comments about service yet because we have a new generation that have seen awful things and had to endure long separations from their families, I will not let what happen to the Viet Nam vets happen to these new vets. We need to be welcoming to them with open arms and at all opportunities thank them for what they have done for all of us. That is the very least one who never served could do.

Jim deserves all the accolades. I bought an i7 from him about a year and a half ago and it has been a great DAW. Absolutely no problems. As others have said, Jim is also great to work with--pre and post sale.

Hi John, I'm very sorry for disrupting the thread in asking about yorolpal's service. I didn't mean to detract our readers from praising Jim, so I'm sorry for taking things a bit off the path. I just go out of my way to thank anyone in the service for all that they've done for us any time I see a topic or see a person in uniform. I've bought drinks in bars for them, hugged them, paid for their meals silently when eating out while just telling the waiter...."tell them a very thankful US citizen paid for their dinner" and I walk out. I just really respect them and always have to say a little something. That said, accept my apology for anything I may have said that took the thread off course...and thank you and tom 1 for your service past and present. It is greatly appreciated fella's....from the heart. :) Now, back to that Jim guy....I love you man!!! (in a non-gay way fo course!) :)

I highly recommend Jim's machines as well! Great guy to work with along with knowing what it takes to build a great machine without breaking the bank. When he built my DAW last year, I had priced and repriced everything to do it myself. Jim's price tag was close to what I was going to spend, it became a no-brainer decision. ...Build an average performing machine and hope it fits my needs or let a professional build me a stellar machine for a fair margin. Easy choice.
Thanks Jim, count on me as a return customer.

plus one, Music Room! you're describing my experience, as well. i've built all my own machines for the last 15 years. anyone can buy all the parts - but the years of experience testing and troubleshooting hw &sw compatibility is priceless. a no brainer, indeed. .

Well, personally I've always thought that Scott and Jim should have to leg wrestle and the loser has to build CJ a new computer, gratis. Tho they might prefer Rubiks Cubes at 100 paces. But here's the twist. No matter how powerful a box they build him...it's got to have a Soundblaster card.

sqye anyone can buy all the parts - but the years of experience testing and troubleshooting hw &sw compatibility is priceless. a no brainer, indeed. . You said a mouthful there. That is the reason that my last two music PC were either built by Jim, (an overclocked 350cely!!) that lasted for years and the one I have now (that he told me on this forum what parts to get). Both PC did and is doing a very good job. Along with my own know how, I am still using 4yr old parts with an OS that's over.... how old is XP now? LOL This speaks volumes about Jim's knowledge. I have gotten his IR for Reverb that are just fantastic. And though I have never heard them, I hear that his Perrrfect Drums samples are some of the best in the world!! Jim is an honest to goodness Straight Up Guy!! And the type of clients Jim deals with, very successful music business people, and he still is humble enough to deal with the likes of small time music recording hobbyist like me, then what can I say that hasn't already been said!! Except: Thank you Jim.

alexoosthoek Well I hope you guys are going to alow me a post about Scott at http://www.adkproaudio.com/ . I got the one in my sig for over a year now( another one on it's way :-) and never ran in any trouble at all :-) With all due respect, that's a bit of a smack there isn't it? I'd say go and make your own thread praising Scott...this one is thanks to Jim, ya know? How would ya like it if someone created a thread thanking you and praising you for your work, and some guy pops in and brings up another guy that is your competition in that same thread? I sure wouldn't like it. So yeah, not that it matters any, but I kinda mind because I just don't think this is the thread for it. I know you meant no disrespect, but to me, it's just principal.

I too want to offer my thanks to Jim. I have always built my own PC's but never had a Dedicated DAW. Also being in Australia I didn't have Access to Jim's build expertise so for what I would call a very nominal fee jim gave me a list of parts and links where I could get them and so I went shopping for my new i7 machine. that was a good while ago now and I'm still a very happy camper. Interestingly I had one snafu with choosing a cooler that ended up not fitting my chosen case that was Jim's fault. Without any arguing he immediately made me a very acceptable offer for squaring things up. It really wasn't a big deal as I was able to resell the part anyway. Apart from his excellent service and knowledge, Jim rates a 10/10 for the way he handles the unexpected problems that are a part of doing business. Things like that make you a customer for life. A thoroughly deserved recommendation.

mudgel I too want to offer my thanks to Jim. If it weren't for you, man - I wouldn't have even known about Jim as a DAW builder - per se, other than his many helpful posts here. ...but that's because I'm not usually here at the forum - unless I'm doing a new build, which I've mostly done myself before this one : ) And now, I'm creating some killer music beds for a really big project, running a ton of VST plugs and effects - the graphics are slamming. Kontakt 4.1 is slamming. Symphobia 1.2 is slamming. Komplete 7 is slamming - so far, using Absynth 5, Massive, Guitar Rig 4 - KILLER! Kore, Traktor 12, Reflektor, etc. Lots of great sw. Graphics are seamless. Libraries loading superfast - thanks to the K4.1 background loading. Loving T-Racks Brickwall Limiter - bye, bye Waves - it was nice knowing you. Got my mix bus with 12 stems fielding 12 folders of instrument categories. Lovin' it! Digging the CW Channel Tools stereo imaging, as well. Lexicon Pantheon verb is awesome. ...DimPro, Rapture, Battery and Reaktor are crashing, but I'm not going to worry about it for now. I can WORK, and work QUICKLY. I'm one happy dude. MACHINE IS SLAMMING! JIM ROCKS! He went way above and beyond the call of duty with support for me! You just never find people like this. So, thanks again, Mudgel. .
