That middle of the night call.....(UPDATE 2 in last post)

We got one this morning at 2:30. Our daughter who's in college a couple of hours away from us, had been hit by a car. They were awaiting test results before taking her into surgery. Wife and I took off immediately and made it before they were taking her in. She was leaving a concert with friends and was struck in a crosswalk by a car traveling over 35mph. She went up the hood and off the windshield, then to the street. They had to put some pins, screws and plates in her upper arm, but other than a few abrasions she's okay.
 
The driver didn't stop, but a witness followed the car and got the plate number and make and model, and the police are searching for it.
 
UPDATE-Police called this morning, and they apprehended the driver. He admitted to the accident. We are awaiting a call from the Assistant District Attorney as to what happens next. Our daughter is resting comfortably this morning and we are awaiting the surgeon who treated her to stop in and check her out.

    Here is another 10 seconds later. She's a tough kid. She's also a very lucky kid. If your kids are around tonight, give them a hug. If they aren't with you, give them a call if you haven't in awhile and just tell them you love them.

    WOW!  I'm glad she's relatively OK.  Best wishes on a quick recovery.  I hope they throw the book at the driver.

    Thank Goodness she is O.K. A car hitting a person at 35mph is very very serious.

    Can't believe she has got the "goats out" in the first photo! Obviously, a great sense of humour regardless of the situation.

     am glad that she will be OK. I hope the uncaring idiot who hit her get's his due. Driver was probably drinking.  We went through several years of expecting a call every night with one kid... or worse, a  knock on the door.

    For me, prayer helps.

    Oh my that's the time in the morning that every parent dreads when the 'phone rings.  The only time there's ever good news at that kind of hour is if someone in the family is expecting.

    I'll bet the wife and yourself had several kittens before you got to see her.

    Here's hoping they straighten out that arm for her without too much lasting damage, you all must be pretty shaken up just now.

    Randy, I'm really glad that she survived! I don't have children my self but the horror you and your wife probably went through when you got the call must have been heart shattering.

    I hope they find the bastard who hit her and ses him to jail. 

    Fingers are crossed hoping she will recover completely.

    Yes, she is. Resting comfortably in the hospital. They think they'll keep her til Tuesday just to be safe.

    Saying prayers for her speedy recovery Randy.  So glad it wasn't much worse but she really did go through a lot!  Take care all of you.  Keep us posted.

    Also glad to hear about the recovery.  Hopefully, they do throw the book at the driver, and that it will be a loooooooong time (if ever) before that person is back on the road again.
