Bubba... you should read Embassytown by China Mieville. Somehow your writing reminds me of it, I think you would enjoy it. I can't wait to get a copy of yours. There's a .mobi version on the Smashwords site. You should be able to use the coupon for any version on that site. (ePub, PDF, .mobi, PDB, RTF, HTML, etc.)
I haven't read that book yet, so I have one to look for.

I'm working on Book 2 (no title yet). I've only written about 5% of it, so I need to get in gear now that the holidays are over. I had a few weeks where I sat around like a lump.
Ideally, I'd like to get the second book out by the end of June. If I can get it done sooner, I will.
And yes, I was thinking of the Coffee House (in a general way) when I wrote about Detestica.
On a side note, I searched far and wide to see if there were any bands already using that name before I seized it. I couldn't believe it was available.
