Hi, Jon,

Wow, this song is both very stylish and super cool, and the mix is absolutely spectacular!

Her sweet sounding vocals are floating perfectly beside your strong sounding voice, the guitar and drum parts sound literally made for each other, and the bass patch sounds better than most real basses.  Excellent songwriting and arrangement, wonderful performances by both of you, and if it was my song, I would NEVER change a single thing on this warm sounding, perfect mix.

Top notch stuff, Jon, and it's really great to see you back upstairs, my friend.  After this, I can't wait for your next one!
Bob

I well remember those continental films of the late 60's and early 70's (the romantic ones, not the others!) and this song would have been the perfect theme. Every aspect of this song shouts out quality. And as for the 'Mermaid' - we sailors often heard them singing over the waves - but never as beautifully as this - really does make me want to go back to Sea! A truly lovely song.

Gary - Thanks.  I don't think I have much idea of what '60's French pop sounded like either...

Mark - Nostalgia is this years future...  Thanks for the listen.

very very cool Jon, great tune and original-sounding. as others have said mix is very good. only thing i would change is in the first spoken verse, there's an audible hiss where the dialogue comes in, and then it goes when the phrase is other. either try to get rid of that or even add some hiss in artificially during that verse (problem goes away once the BV start!) anyhoo, you are one talented Bouy!

Mark (The clean one...) Thankee kindly good sir, you're no slouch yourself.

Bob - That's a really nice message, I felt that. Thanks for dropping by.

Malcolm
- Thanks neighbour...

Mark (The metal one!) Yes I'm onto the noise on the spoken verses, I did actually retake it then threw away the new take and kept the noisy one, such is the depth of my talent...heheh.

Excellent IMHO. Especially knowing it was done in 8.5.

I listened to this a few days ago Jon (just never got around to commenting) and you kinda mesmerised me with this one. I didn't expect hearing something like this and it was like watching a classic film with this being sung. You and your Lady did a wonderful job! Performance, recording..it's all there. (listening again) Refreshing and innocent! I keep seeing PanAm airlines in my mind.

Tim:  Thanks man. Epic, I'll take that...

Bub: Yup some of us are just old-fashioned that way.

Larry: Really nice to see you around and drop by on this.  I've been meaning for awhile to specifically get back to replying to you here and didn't manage until now.  Anyhoo thanks for the kind words.

Grant: Two visits bro?  You are too kind, thanks for dropping by again.

This is fantastic stuff. Great song and lovely arrangement. Your vocal style reminds me of Robert Wyatt at times and i could easily see him singing this. Nice femal harmonies are the icing on the cake. Top track Jon.

Thanks James and Blipp, yes that Robert Wyatt thing has come up before I shall have to investigate further.

very nice, with that nostalgic vibe....
it has a soundtrack quality to it for sure.

of course, i would think that the guitar rhythm parts should be brought up a bit.

Jon, Really fine job, mix is outstanding as are the vocals and backing track. Nice guitar solo too.. Reminds me of the late 60's, early 70's Charles Aznavour style music. Regards
