While this thread is (slightly) derailed, I just wanted to say a root beer float (root beer and vanilla ice cream for those who are not familiar with the term) just isn't the same with a root beer substitute.  Although the Chili float was an unexpected taste sensation, it's not the same thing.

Bubba,

But the Becan float....
Now there's a substitute I can live with.

Becan should only float if it's still an integral part of a pig.

And Bubba, that post of yours is a complete train wreck.

Three wooden trees, a conductor, and a railroad executive were ruthlessly knocked over during that crash.  That was, largely, due to the fact that Ruth had already left the room because Beauregard refused to stop running over her Pretty Pony with his train.  In his defense, however, the pony was asking for it.

thanks Strummy, I am aware of the German Purity Laws regarding beers, and didnt know if Britain  had similar guides for breweries. I do know even the micro brews here have to have preservatives , which affect the taste.

Best part about this beer is that when you fill the glass the bottle stays full........

@Zonno

That is so nicely colored. I bet it tastes as good.

Speaking out-of-the-main-topic again, is there still real rootbeer still available?

Check out my band's song on YouTube!

I don't know about real, but I have been noticing some "artisan" root beers at various stores like BevMo or World Market.  I'm sure they claim to be real.  They're like microbreweries for soda.  Here's one article I found:
