mudgel I must have missed the press release that Cakewalk is now 100% owned by Roland. I thought they were only major share holders. I would speculate that happened with Greg Hendershott’s retirement. Why would he retire? My guess would be he received a generous offer for his shares.

Good point, that makes sense. I hope that SONAR will continue to be important to Roland and receives proper attention for future development and support so it can stay at the top of the DAW world.

Hi Everyone, I just want to echo Brandon's thanks for the well wishes. When I started at Cakewalk in Tech Support I never thought I would make it all the way to Vice President but as "they say" if you are passionate about what you do, work is fun and you will have success. That success is as much thanks to you than anything else. Over the past 16.5 years I have had the privilege of meeting so many you, whether it is on the phone, email, this forum, or face to face in locations around the world. Many of you have even managed to sit though my videos and demonstrations too. :-) Although we are now at Roland we are not far away and I am sure we will still be in-touch with you here and face to face. SONAR will always be in our DNA and we are looking forward to sharing all of Roland's recording products (including SONAR) with you. You are truly the most passionate customers of any company, so thank you again for an amazing run and for your support throughout the years! Best regards, Robin

Congratulations to you Robin, and Brandon also. I started out life in a Yamaha family but moved to Roland products when I moved to the dark side of non-classical music. Great to see you guys there now. Everyone was worried that when Greg Hendershott sold out to Roland that Roland was going to take over/ dismantle/neglect but I think Cakewalk and Sonar are looking better than I have ever seen them. Couldn't hurt to bring back P5 though So, slowly but surely, the Cakewalk Alumni are taking over Roland Corportaion Well played Mr Hendershott, well played indeed.

Now that you guys have a cubicle at Roland, perhaps you could ask around and see who's in charge of V-Vocal now.

I wish all of the staff moving under the Roland umbrella the best of luck and good fortune going forward. I've found many of the staffers go way beyond the call of duty for their customers. I must say however, that I've never seen good things happen when corporations gobble up smaller companies to diversify their customer base. It's a cycle. They grow fat and complacent and when things go bad they decide it's time to return to their core values. Sound familiar? The little companies they bought get trashed as they circle the corporate wagons and begin to divest. Corporate mentality seems to work on 3 month cycles and have no patience for non performers. I hope all the folks involved are saving their pennies so they can buy the company back from Roland in a few years.

Might want to ask about when you can take vacation time too! Short lived career! "I workd for Roland.... for about a week." Seriously tho, I think if they were to ask someone at Roland about V-Vocal the response would be, "V-what?"

Roland Corp has merged with some of their previous acquisitions. Their use of Cakewalk by Roland branding though IMHO appears to suggest they intend to allow Cakewalk to manage Cakewalk at this time.

Hope it all works out... obviously a concern that Roland is not profitable right now. Hope you guys can ride it through and not have too much of the fall out that always flows along with the pain of non-profit. Just economic reality really. Here's to a hopeful future and there is a lot of mortar needed between the bricks but Sonar still promises a lot. Cheers.

Roland, Cakewalk... Aren't they just 2 sides of the same coin anyway? OR is there more prestiege working for Roland? or more cash? Hope he gets a bit of both. On a personal level I get a real buzz once in a while just looking at the only 2 peices of Roland gear I have. There is a real semiotic reaction I get gazing at the logo. mmmmmm ROLAND ROLAND ROLAND just ROLANDS of the toungue doesn't it. Congratulations and all the best Brandon & Robin, your efforts have always been greatly appreciated =) As a side note, I'd be lying if I said I felt totally at ease with the future of Cakewalk. I have this nagging feeling that it's a case of 'one major push before we fold' I have no evidence or fact to back this up, it's just a feeling, and I hope I'm wrong. The new Reason PC2A rack extension fills me with hope however, and I think it'd be fantastic if more third party developers released ProChannel modules of their plugs, namely iZotope. Here's hoping =)

The Colonel most likely wears Cole Hahn Driving Moccasins or the equivalent and not...ever....just "shoes". Perry Ellis "Americas" maybe...or Merrill or O'Neil "sliders"...but NOT simply...SHOES. So filling them will be, at best, problematic. Roland probably had to come up with a "foot wear allowance" or some such to even secure his employment. Any dimbulb can easily see from Brandon's video appearances that his sartorial splendor is something to be envied and...when possible...emulated. I prefer sweatpants, my own self. Go figure.

Ah, but one may find a ready literary reference right within Brandon's own sig... and not to Jane Austen. More like, to 3Jane Tessier-Ashpool. Perhaps El Sombrero Charro is alluding to the wrong genre and colonel. Try cyberpunk and Armitage. 'Sweatpants' The descriptive nature of merely the name of the aforementioned garment is of itself something of a narrative, charting a decline from a once prouder glory... I need the elastic replaced in mine too. Not that it matters, the last stocking tops I glanced upon happened to be those fetching white 'thrombosis beaters' they put on you when you go into hospital for tests, on my very own legs. Good times... So yes Brandon squeeze every last ounce from your opportunities while they still present themselves and all the very best wishes in your latest role.

He is called the Colonel as an honorarium. An appelation applied to those who (wisely) prefer the smooth, ambrosia-like bourbon produced in Kentucky and not Tennessee. Maker's Mark perhaps or Wild Turkey. It quite rightly came about one night when The Colonel and I were toasting each other's perspicacity and good fortune.
