This May Help Some with XLN AD2...
...ran into a small snag ... it was my fault.... maybe this will save YOU some time... if you have the same situation Upgraded to SONAR Platinum ... Installed all except Addictive Drums 2 & Melodyne ...because I had already purchased the full version of both prior to upgrading SONAR Didn't want to re-install AD2 ...I did want the 3 AD PAKS!!!
*** after some confusion *** I ran the XLN Online Installer In response to the question "Where Did You Get This Product?" ...it's important to click "Other, Not Sure" reason being the Others did not allow full entry of the given serial number ...CAREFULLY entered the product serial number for AD 2 displayed in Command Center
Hit Register Product Key and BAM!!! - the three AD PAK deal popped up...
Installed my choices and good to go....
...hope someone benefits from this!!! (or maybe I'm just slow as hell)
NOTE ... VERY Satisfied with the new Upgrade process ...Cakewalk COOL!!!

That's sounds interesting, thanks. I don't have XLN AD2, so last night, when I updated via the Command Center from X3 to Sonar Platinum, I downloaded the XLN installer (64-bit) I imported my serial number for AD2 from the but I used a different option than the 'other' that you mentioned. My problem is that I can only see a download for a trial version of AD2, and yet it reports that my serial number has been registered ! I will have another go tonight using your tip and see what happens. Thanks Garry

Hey Musec03, I did the same as you and it all went well, but I can't figure out where the 3 midi beats packs I chose have gone. They did not appear in the XLN download queue like the AD packs and kit pieces did. Any ideas?

That threw me a bit too, but they don't show in the download queue. They will show up in AD2 though. The way AD2 seems to work is all of the MIDI paks show up in the interface, but the ones you don't own show the word Demo on them.

The Midi packs I selected are still showing up as demos in AD2. I'll email XLN.

Thanks musec03. You saved me time and a support call. Much appreciated! The CCC still shows AD2 as not installed. It doesn't really affect me, so nothing to worry about. I'm sure the bakers will get that figured out. All is well on my system with Sonar and AD2. Time to delve into the new adpaks...

Yep... It took me a bit to figure it out but once I found the XLN installer, everything became butta! I picked my three kits but am taking my time with the midi and pieces. Just go back to the (IIRC) installer/installation page and there are the options for picking the rest of my stuff. Am happy with it. I WAS confusing at first, going through CC. J

How do we access the ADpaks we had purchased for AD1 in AD2? The Upgrade details on the XLN site states "AND upgrades all of your existing content to the new AD2 format". I have the 3 ADpaks deal available in the XLN installer (which I haven't chosen yet), but my previous sets aren't available in AD2. Thanks.

You'll need to (pay) upgrade your AD1 for it to be available in AD2.........there's no way around this. XLN is pretty good with giving you a discounted price on the upgrade, so you may want to contact them directly.

Musec03 Thanks for your great info. I did not update my AD1 to AD2 last summer, knowing that the new version of Sonar would have AD2. I have only one adpack, but if I understand what others are saying, I need to still upgrade to AD2 to use it. Is this correct? Yup, that is correct. You can still use it in AD1. Another odd factoid; there really isn't a AD2. You get AD2 when you buy an AD Pack, or bundle, so you don't really get an AD2 with standard kits included. So even though you only have 1 AD Pack if you upgrade you get the Pop, Rock and Prog kits that are included in AD1. So if you upgrade you will get 4 kits added to AD2. With the Producer Bundle you get 3 AD2 kits (and the AD2 engine) and if you upgrade you will have 7.

Huh? I totally do not get this. Are you saying there is no "AD2" to download? When I "registered" my AD2 it shows the paks, but no AD2. It shows I have AD1 installed and everything is up to date. I have not picked or dl'ed any of the paks. If I do, does that "upgrade me"? This seems pretty darn confusing.....

Yes, that's correct. What BassDaddy is saying is that each of the current Adpacks contain the AD2 engine built in, and a seperate purchase isn't necessary. For AD1, you had to first purchase the AD1 software/engine and then the adpacks (sold seperately) could be used. Of note: I didn't have to choose "Other" when registering and all went smoothly.......I picked "Online Webshop".

Thanks! So mine is probably ok, I just have to instal one of the ADPaks. Who were the marketing geniuses that thought that up? When you log in, it only gives me the paks and no mention of that being the reason. Then there IS a AD2 "demo" and it says AD1 installed. In any case thanks a ton. I'll try that when I get back from business.

Getting the Additional AdPaks was worth the Platinum price of admission. ($125.16 for the X3E Producer to Platinum Upgrade from JRR Shop). Lucky me. Even at $149 I would have done it. So far, rock steady all around, even with ancient VSTs.

I've put off the AD2 Producers Bundle, while I work out which midi paks require which ADpaks and I suppose that applies to the Kit Pieces, too. I have AD2 and therefore the Studio Pop, Rock and Prog. I bought Fairfax Vol 1 and 2 midipaks, plus I have a Pearl Masterworks piccolo snare somehow (don't remember how that got in there at all! LOL I know I want brushes, so I have to get the Jazz kit to add the brushes midipak. I've been listening to the ADpaks and can only conclude I will have to get more than the 3 "freebies". Indie, Vintage Dry and Fairfax 2, all seem to be ones I'd use, but I need the brushes and so the Jazz Kit brushes has to be one of them. It seems odd that most (maybe I'm wrong) other vendors have "Nashville or country" kits or patterns. It seems like xln/Addictive don't think there's a customer base for it. Back to "auditioning" Oh yeah, I used the online webstore path Michael

Just a few minutes ago, I finally decided on which 3 to get: Fairfax 2, Vintage Dry, and Reel Machine. For the Midi, I got the Blues, Rock Songs, and Percussion Beats (had a lot of others I wanted as well). The problem was that a lot of them sounded good and too many to chose from. This looks like it's going to be an ongoing collection build up as there's a lot there that I want. This Producer bundle is a success in my book........totally worth it. :)

Yeah, I just decided I'd pick 3 now and just add 2-3 more in a bit. As far as the midipaks go, when they're on sale for $10 @, I'll get the "extra ones" then. I could use Reggae, and probably the songs ones, since I could easily think of the song and know if there were patterns I could use. Michael

The AD Producers Bundle is my favorite freebie Cakewalk has given us, ever. The way they handled the AD1 to AD2 thing has been confusing for lots of people. The whole "subscription, membership" deal was a non factor for me when I saw the Producers Bundle. I get a whole year to see what happens with Platinum and it doesn't cost anything. The last couple of Sonar versions Cakewalk has given us some really nice freebies.
It's Bass, not Bass. i7 2700K, 16GB DDR3, 2 SSD sample drives and OS drive, HDD SATAIII for projects, 2 24" monitors Focusrite Saffire Pro 24, Focusrite VRM Box, LAVA Lamp, SONAR Platinum 64 bit, Mackie MCU and 1 MCU XT, Akai Advance 49, Windows 10, Komplete 9 Ultimate, Cakewalk, Toontrack, IK, AAS, XLN, UVI, Air Music Tech, Waves Factory, Sample Tek and Sonivox VSTi's.
