Timeframe for Platinum on dvd
I am keen to upgrade from X3 Producer to Platinum but my slow and painful connection speed means download would take a couple of days - i will go through this pain if dvds are not going to be available relatively soon but would prefer to hold out for dvds. Can Cakewalk please give an idea on timescale for these being available please. Many Thanks Steve

You need to direct your request to Cakewalk Customer Service. This is purely a peer to peer network and while the staff have been here recently there's no guarantee that any of them will see your question.

I ordered the DVDs from Sweetwater. They said they are expecting to get them from Cakewalk about a week from now. That's not exactly your question, but it might give you a ballpark expectation.

The command center has made the dloading process much easier. If you have purchased the DVDs I think you still can dload your product. You should give it shot, and if it doesn't work for you the DVDs are coming..not sure when, but can't be to long.

Are you sure Sweetwater actually sells the DVDs? The boxed version no longer contains the media. I thought only Cakewalk sells the media now, see http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3156796

I don't want to burst your bubble, but are you sure you ordered DVD's from SW? The Box option does not include DVD's (and cake have said as much). It includes a redemption code for download and a couple of documents like a quick start guide. SW is really doing a disservice to its customers by selling a boxed version which does not include media, especially since in the past boxed versions did. You might want to call your SW rep to confirm. Edit - Er what Scook said.

Well, well. The title to that thread looked so innocuous that I didn't bother to read it, so I had no idea. (In my defense, the forum is so active lately, I don't have time to read every thread. ). Thanks for the reference. I may have to ask Sweetwater to switch my order to the download, since the box won't contain anything I really need. I still would prefer DVDs, as I have a slow internet connection, but I guess it is not worth the additional time and expense. Hopefully, Cakewalk and the online sellers will make the effort to make this change in the contents of the boxed version clear, so people won't be fooled like I was.

Well I emailed support and received a prompt reply telling me that there were no plans to make DVD'S available at all - not what had been mooted by the Bakers on here but hey there it is....

If you're upgrading from X3Pro to Platinum the download isn't as bad as you might think. You get to choose what to download and what to leave. You only need the core Sonar Platinum download and any extras like Craig's amp sims or AD2 you can download later at your leisure. All the main "content" you should have already. I read somewhere the core download is only a couple hundred megs, not the 6 or 7 gigs if you include all the sample libs.
